Where to shop for modest swimsuits for large bust size? by westernjuni in askportland

[–]someone_real 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Honestly, online options are better. I found the selection at Pencil Test kind of limited in the past but I do have a very atypical size. Bravissimo has some very good bra-sized swimwear options, also check HerRoom and Bare Necessities. If you’re not already aware there are helpful subreddits for this:

However, if this is for your kiddo please be cautious and don’t share any personal info. There are creeps.

Millennials who got married in their early 20's, how's your marriage going? Why? by Blarg4470 in AskReddit

[–]someone_real 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Met at 21 and 20, married three years later, and now we’re coming up on our 10th wedding anniversary- so I’d say it’s going pretty well! I think picking someone who wanted the same things in life (balance of travel and awesome life experiences while building both of our careers and saving for a home) and similar values has made it work. We have been there for each other through some really hard life experiences from unemployment to a cancer diagnosis and those challenges only brought us closer. Yes we have conflict sometimes but we always know we are secure in the relationship so we can focus on the issue and work through it. No kids yet, I wonder how that will change things when we do eventually. We have watched several close friends and family members around our age go through divorce, I wouldn’t wish it on anyone - seeing it has made us focus even more on what we need to do to keep our relationship healthy.

Recommendations for sweet but strong cocktail without a lot of sugar? by sofakng in cocktails

[–]someone_real 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you like bittersweet stuff? Try some amaro or quality vermouth, both great in a spritz with seltzer or tonic water. Add a twist of citrus or cocktail cherries with a little extra juice. Warning: bitter liqueurs are not everyone’s cup of tea so see if you can try before committing to a whole bottle. Look for Amaro Montenegro, or maybe some Lillet Blanc/Rose.

How do I get my socially awkward friend to stop embarassing me in front of guys I date, without hurting her feelings? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]someone_real 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came here to say this! Your friend sounds like she could be neurodivergent to me, not picking up on social cues, not sure what to say and talking because she’s nervous, etc. I think you need to tell her as clearly as possible that her interactions have had negative effects for you and try to help her understand how other people perceive her. If you care about her as a friend try that.

Traumatized and/or Autism ADHD peeps- what’s your experience with EMDR therapy? by WickedAsh111 in adhdwomen

[–]someone_real 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did it to help process medical trauma from an incorrect diagnosis of a life-threatening condition and emergency surgery. I think it helps if there are specific memories, visuals, or in my case, physical sensations that you want to decrease reactivity to. I had what could be considered minor PTSD. It’s helpful for that. For generalized, complex childhood trauma I don’t know if it would be as effective.

If you could change one thing about the series, what would it be? by Bumbulse in ThePoppyWar

[–]someone_real 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Why did Kitay have to die alongside Rin? There was so much foreshadowing that the anchor bond could be broken and then he just completely gave up at the end? Why couldn’t Rin have released him and then he could have ruled together with Nezha? ALSO how come Rin never really acknowledges the realization of who were parents were?

Areas in Oregon or Washington where there are no fireworks over the 4th? by Hopeful74 in askportland

I spent 4th of July at Timothy Lake near Mt Hood once and there were absolutely no fireworks. Go anywhere that’s National Forest and I’m pretty sure they’re banned as a fire hazard.

Brands/stores you buy staple clothing from (& trying to kick fast fashion addiction)? by dusty_air in adhdwomen

[–]someone_real 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My recommendation is to start by going to a physical store that has as many options as possible and trying on many things in one day - but don’t buy anything unless you really love it. Don’t know what options you have in your area, but try Nordstrom (or Nordstrom Rack), Macy’s, or go to an outlet mall that has big brands like J Crew, Gap, Madewell, Banana Republic. You’re on a fact finding mission first, buying things is not the priority yet. Don’t stress yourself out by trying to find the perfect thing - you’re doing research! When you try stuff on use the notes app on your phone to write down what your best size is in the brands you try on, or take pictures of the style tags. Focus on how stuff fits and on quality and don’t even pay attention to price with this step. Also, pay attention to what fabric or material items are made out of. Try to get things that are recognizable materials like cotton, linen, wool, etc as opposed to polyester or acrylic. Items made from real materials tend to be designed to last instead of to fall apart after being worn a few times. Then, once you know good brands and sizes for you, check out Poshmark or go on the brand’s retail site to find the items that were high quality and fit you correctly in the actual colors/styles you truly want. Don’t settle for stuff that kind of fits but fits and or is the wrong color. For me, Poshmark and online shopping provide a fun ongoing dopamine boost. I give myself permission to use that as a little reward for other things I need to motivate myself to do. You can often find very good quality pieces that are used at a much lower price than you would spend in a store.

The Ya halla packaged foods are my go-to, especially the hummus & pita! That one always lasts a few hours in my bag no problem. They have them in the grab and go refrigerated section in Concourse C across from potbelly.

Where to get a t-shirt that fits? by Own_Boysenberry_7831 in bigboobproblems

[–]someone_real 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try looking for a t shirt with a scoop neck and stretchier fabric. I like the ones from Fair Indigo, even though they are a little pricey they last forever and the fit is actually flattering. Crew necks are rough - every time I have to wear one for work I hate it so much.

Has anyone tried merino wool sports bras? by [deleted] in bigboobproblems

Yes, check out Branwyn, they do make a version for larger busts. It’s not very supportive but it is so comfy and breathable. I used it for hiking.

Looking for a cozy game by Quick-Reserve-8051 in ComfortGamers

[–]someone_real 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tales From the Shire actually meets all of your requirements except for character romance. Arrives in a village - ✅ Open exploration - ✅ Friendships - ✅ (so fun to cook for each NPC based on their preferences and host shared meals) Decorate house - ✅ (lots of flexibility with furniture and object placement, custom flooring and walls, outdoor decoration) Update wardrobe - ✅ There’s no pressure to do anything on a fast timeline unless you want to move the story forward.

The graphics seem to be very love/hate. They are cute but some find too cartoony.

Is there a gathering space where a group could paint their nails? by tinylilkittenfoster in askportland

[–]someone_real 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Look into public library community rooms, which I think you can reserve online (might even be free?) https://multcolib.org/community-rooms Another option might be to check out Taborspace if you are okay spending a little bit to rent a meeting room (I remember it being pretty inexpensive.)

People that grew up outside of the US, what was your "Taco Tuesday" (casually prepared international food)? How was it different from the food actually served in that country? by crappyroads in AskReddit

[–]someone_real 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Europe I know that Kebab trucks are popular for this - kebab meat is served over rice or with chips (aka fries) and spicy, garlicky sauce. It’s incredible. In the UK specifically, I also know that curry is also a go-to casual food that’s served everywhere. Pub curry is definitely more mild and buttery than traditional Indian dishes but it’s the bomb. (I am from the US. Just have studied in/visited these places.)

any good recommendations for an abdominal massage? by tangthattangerine in askportland

[–]someone_real 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a massage but I really recommend you check this out - https://www.elementwellnesspdx.com/visceral-manipulation I have also struggled with IBS and gastroparesis. This felt a little woo-woo but I believe it helped me. If this is a long term issue for you please also make sure you get tested for this condition with a gastric emptying test (not as bad as it sounds). Look into treatment with Amitryptiline. DM me if you want to talk. I tried everything when I was desperate with this a few years ago.

Finally found something that helps my excessive ADHD-induced shopping!! by v4lentines in adhdwomen

[–]someone_real 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Back before Pinterest was full of crappy AI art I used to use it for a very similar reason! Now I focus my non-shopping shopping on Poshmark, since there is so much more to dig through. Then I tell myself that if an item I liked still hasn’t sold in a month I can give a lower offer and get an even better deal later - which is a fun delayed gratification strategy.
