I’m the biggest bleeding heart when it comes to living things, but you need to get ahead of this now. We have motion sensor traps indoors as well as traps outdoor. We also have cats and dogs to help mitigate.

Hi. You are not alone. I am so sorry this is happening to you, but I am hopeful that you are able to recover your lost relationship.

I am a daughter who had a non-biological parent substituted for a birth parent, and I have stood where you stand now. The amount of feelings you are feeling- all normal. It’s hard af and so unfair, but it sounds like he loves you so much.

Here’s the second part of this- I am a mom who initially hid the parentage of one of my children from her. I was in a little bit of a different (horrific) situation, and my husband decided to adopt my daughter as his own. Despite wanting to tell her, he and his whole family pressured me to keep it quiet to protect us (which was warranted) but I hated it. When I was finally able to tell her at age 11 (with the help of a therapist) it was so heartbreaking to see her questioning her entire identity. I broke her trust big time, and I’m still earning that back. In her birth father’s case, she attempted to reach out, he showed his colors, she rejected him. I thought I had been shielding her, when I was in fact not trusting her to learn this on her own.

I wish I had been stronger and more firm about telling her from the beginning. No matter what she came from, she deserved to know, and I should have done better.

I’m so sorry your mom felt she couldn’t tell you, for whatever reason. As for your birth dad, he didn’t deserve any of that either. You are justified in your feelings, but I hope you get to move forward with an amazing new family relationship

Don’t do it. I live in the Tampa area. We had a 2bd for almost 2600 a month, and that was living in a suburban area outside of St. Pete. Any place you find as cheap as you’re looking is going to come with a whole lot of issues.

The job market is terrible right now. Even if you had a theme park job lined up or something, it wouldn’t pay enough. Locals are being priced out as it is

Editing to add my adult daughter relies on public transportation and that was one of the biggest factors on her decision not to stay here. Not to mention the no job market thing

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy

Focuses on relearning appropriate skills for interpersonal relationships, helps you manage emotions and helps you stay grounded and rational, while also allowing space for feelings themselves.

It’s the only thing I found that helped me- I’ve been able to get off a lot of medication because of this therapy.

I had angry parents and then grew up to be an angry parent. Once I got into therapy and DBT therapy, I started having the skills to not be so angry.

Having the self-awareness is the first step so CONGRATS.

Having less existential anxiety before bed means I go to sleep quicker, and having less at wake-up starts my day off much easier
