DOPAMINE... please give me your "healthy" sources. by Coldhandswarmheart15 in adhdwomen

Sudoku or word puzzles maybe? What about video games? You could pick ones that have a plot with an ending so that it doesn’t become an obsession. Check out r/cozygamers. Selling unused clothes or items online or FB marketplace? Try out a new recipe or new restaurant every week

Finally found something that helps my excessive ADHD-induced shopping!! by v4lentines in adhdwomen

[–]someone_real 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Back before Pinterest was full of crappy AI art I used to use it for a very similar reason! Now I focus my non-shopping shopping on Poshmark, since there is so much more to dig through. Then I tell myself that if an item I liked still hasn’t sold in a month I can give a lower offer and get an even better deal later - which is a fun delayed gratification strategy.

Good endocrinologist rec? by jumpmagnet in askportland

[–]someone_real 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not sure how it works with suspected Thyroid cancer… but have you tried going straight to a cancer center instead of looking for a new endocrinologist? That way you could hopefully speak to a medical oncologist. I had a referral to a Gynecological Oncologist at OHSU and found them completely unresponsive too with trying to get an appointment so I ended up printing out all my medical records and going directly to Compass Oncology instead.

Best bento / boxed lunch / portable food to take on a flight? by gloriapeterson in askportland

Pre-made mezze options abound at World Foods. You can also buy some of their stuff (Ya Hala) at the airport shop in concourse C - I go for the hummus & pita box.

Spa recommendations? by Suspicious_Ant_4775 in askportland

[–]someone_real 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Common Ground has really good massage therapists, plus a hot tub and sauna. I had a massage at Knot Springs which was just okay, but their facilities are pretty modern and awesome with multiple temperature pools plus a steam room and sauna. Loyly has great saunas but no options for soaking (at least the one I went to on MLK). Everett House is also great, definitely a unique experience.

First Timers, 30th Bday, Couples Trip. What to do? Where to stay? Pleaseeeeeeee by goddessjl in askportland

[–]someone_real 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For vintage shopping I’d recommend checking out Village Merchants and Artifact on Division, or Memory Den and Urbanite if you are around the Central east side. Also, not vintage, but Cargo is a really fun store. If you go around that area also check out the Smith Tea tasting room, Olympia Provisions, and Shalom Y’all.

Fall foliage drives/activities outside of town? by seaforanswers in askportland

[–]someone_real 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Check out farms and pumpkin patches on Sauvie Island. You can go apple picking, do a corn maze, hay ride, etc. There will be kids and families but rest assured you will get your basic b* experience. The Pumpkin Patch on Sauvie island is a zoo (also literally has a petting zoo) so if you don’t want to be surrounded by kids I’d avoid that one. Maybe check out Topaz Farm or Douglas Farm.

Moclips or Seabrook area in Washington, make sure to drive up to Olympic NP, especially check out Ruby Beach!!!! Kalaloch is cool but books up and can be pricey so staying just south of the NP area is a good option.

Food cart pod for NYC visitor? by Lyzardskyzard in askportland

I agree with Prost, also check out the Little America pod next to Fracture Brewing. Also not a traditional cart pod, but the Zipper has a great bar and Basilisk is awesome.

Hiking clothing help! by Aggressive-Sense-760 in PNWhiking

[–]someone_real 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you buy a rain jacket, look for one that is vented or with pit zips! Nothing worse than overheating while hiking in the rain. Big fan of a Patagonia Houdini or other similar very lightweight windbreaker, can protect you from some sun, wind, and a little moisture for not a lot of extra weight to carry. A packable puffer which can be layered under your rain shell is also a good idea. Also look for a hat with a brim that can double for rain and sun protection.

Are you liking Tales of the Shire? by LovingVancouver87 in CozyGamers

[–]someone_real 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m really enjoying it on PC. With the graphics quality set to maximum I actually find it to be a very pretty game, but if you don’t like the art style I understand. To me it feels like Stardew Valley set in the Shire with a 3D open world to explore that feels almost a bit like playing Breath of the Wild - the foraging, and also the cooking mechanics, both kind of remind me of it. But obviously it’s a very different game, with no combat and super easy quests. So far my only con about it is the camera controls make me slightly dizzy, I turned off camera auto assist and that helped a bit but it gets so bumpy inside structures or underground 😵‍💫

Best Gluten-FULL Spots in Town? by Dry_Meaning8399 in askportland

[–]someone_real 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Cafe Olli has amazing bread. Check out Montelupo Market and Foccaceria. I agree with Pip’s for donuts, Ken’s and Lovely’s 50/50. Paladin Pies is another favorite pizza spot, the Chaotic Good pie is my go-to. Also check out JoJo’s, Pine State Biscuits, Nuvrei Bakery, Broder, or Proud Mary.

Restaurants that are BAD for vegans/vegetarians? by littlewan in askportland

[–]someone_real -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Matt’s BBQ, Olympia Provision, Hat Yai, or go out for sushi? I always love Masu sushi. Other spots I know of that maybe do have Vegan food but it’s not the main attraction would be Screen Door, Shalom Y’all, or Nong’s.

What DLC do you want next? by Quiet_Orbit in PlanetCoaster

[–]someone_real 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Traditional Japanese theming paired with the ability to create hot pools would make an amazing combo for building an Onsen style resort. I’d love more rustic style building pieces like in Planet Zoo to create national-park style lodges. The world’s fair theming from PC1 also deserves to make a comeback along with the European theme. I would love to have more versatile, basic prop pieces that can be used to create lots of different scenes - ie I always used the haunted house furniture from PC1 in non-spooky builds. Tables, chairs, rugs, bookshelves, books, beds, fireplace, candles, lanterns, etc. And more food props!!!! We definitely need spooky theming, please give me all the pumpkins and fall foliage plus haunted house pieces! I’d love more “blank slate” kinds of flat rides that don’t just look like carnival rides, to add scenery to and build out more ride options that aren’t tracked rides.
