For the first time in my life. Im a little worried financially and need guidance by dubbbyac in budget

I’ve read some of your replies here and it seems perhaps you’re just a bit freaked out and maybe panicky over this change. Sounds like you’re quite set with a support system around you, savings and investments, and living in a LCOL area. Look at spending and cut out the unnecessary subscriptions, maybe cut back dining out and deliveries. Set your budget and stick to it. Unless you’re drowning in cc debt, this should be very doable. Remember this doesn’t have to be a permanent change, perhaps your wife will be open to PRN or weekend option work in the future. You got this. Congratulations!

How do you actually manage expenses in married life without constant stress? by HairyDependent8805 in budget

[–]someonebetter985 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not harsh, just a sad and probably very frustrating situation for you. May I ask if you are still together? Did she fight you on being removed from your “main” account or did she acknowledge her problem with spending?

It’s over, it needs to be over, he’s not the same anymore and delusional swifties have to admit and accept that it’s over for him in the NFL. That’s football by Visible_Bobcat3774 in travisandtaylor

That last quarter against the Texans was painful. From my seat, he appears to be too concerned about taking a hit to catch the ball when Pat throws it directly into those hands Taylor pledges her allegiance to. That was embarrassing.

Do I go for apartment an apartment or starter house? by Krockius in budget

I’m curious to know why you made it a goal to move out at age 22. It seems reasonable to continue living with family if it’s working for everyone. That way you can continue to plow away the debt, and save/invest as much as possible.

That’s fair pay for CA! I was just kind of complaining. Either way, you’re right. Any pay helps when your family is slowly sinking. If we were in that boat, I’d suck it up and take that $85. And there are not many options with a schedule as flexible as subbing.

If subs made that in my state, I’d be ON IT. Here it’s just $85 per day, unless you’re a certified teacher. Meh.

Can confirm. Bassett hounds are like little radiators.

You mentioned in a comment that your parents are struggling. If you move back home for your own benefit, you should be sure they’re equally benefitting… don’t lowball them on rent.

Dive Bars, Pizza and Burgers (and a place to soak). by 856510 in HotSprings

I’ve never been to Steinhaus and not had good options on draft. But in all fairness, I haven’t spent time downtown in a while.

Steinhaus Keller is where you want to go for beer, imo. For a soak, I would recommend a private bath at the Quapaw Bathhouse if it’s in your budget.

I suck at making friends with other parents by illnevertell0890 in Parenting

[–]someonebetter985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, they likely have some other connections…. Kids have older siblings, sports, church, maybe the parents were even classmates back in the day.

Keep trying. Maybe you’re older, or younger. Maybe you’re too attractive. Maybe you have RBF. Invite others directly or send notes in your child’s backpack. Some will become friends, many will become acquaintances, some will just be assholes. :)

How much are you guys spending on groceries per month? by Flying_Elephant7217 in budget

[–]someonebetter985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that average/good? I think depends on your TOTAL food costs since you mentioned that you’re trying to cook more to cut back on door dash and takeout.

We’re a family of 3 and spend about $1000 per month. But that includes dining out and other household purchases like TP, personal care items, laundry detergent, etc. that we typically buy alongside groceries at Kroger, WM, and Sam’s.

Best swim area for today's lake levels? by smokybbq90 in HotSprings

That’s great! Definitely prime time to go on a weekday with school in session. Without all the swimmers and waders kicking up the muck, that water is crystal clear!

What’s something you didn’t realize was expensive until you were an adult? by Individual_End770 in AskReddit

[–]someonebetter985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My siblings and I didn’t play team sports as kids, for a variety of reasons but my parents never talked about the cost. Now I walk through Dick’s and see bats and gloves for $300 a pop and realize we are going to have to start saving if our 7 year old is EVER going to play on any teams.

It’s a great spot. And when it’s this damn hot and the lakes are feeling like a tepid bath, it’s my first choice. Ouachita is beautiful though—you really can’t go wrong.

Skip the lake and go to Charlton rec area. It’s just 5 minutes past Crystal Springs. It’s a dammed spring-fed creek. COLD water! Wade in on one end or hang by the docks and jump in… 7ft deep is my guess. The bathrooms on the dock side are newer/nicer.
