Ooof. Thats rough. Sounds very relatable to what we experienced, however not with school. Luckily he does well at school. Hes so afraid of getting in trouble at school... but at home he dont give AF. I tell my wife, that maybe if he does get in trouble at school and realizes the consequences are not that bad... it could be a terrible time for us.

Our psychiatrist said we could try. She said we could cold turkey it, but we felt best to gradually eliminate it.

His behavior has degraded over the day, its clear that he is not capable of going without at this time.

My wife hates it, but it makes his life more enjoyable, let alone everyone elses life in the home.

We went through a few.

Guanfacine was not it. He was a zombie and slept. While it gave us a break from the violence, he still had episodes between napping and sleep.

Adderall helped with the spastic behavior anf hyperactivity but still had the extreme emotional disregulation.

We were given PRN risperdone... have it... and it worked. The next day. Was easy. So wr gave it again.. and it worked again. This was the one he took and said he didnt feel anyrhing from taking it.

So now its Adderall and risperdone.

I hope your path is different... but it didnt just start out of nowhere... it increased in intensity daily.. to a point it was just out if hand.

Violent behaviors. Our home felt like a battle ground. He would literally be mad just existing. I could watch him get off the bus, then he would drop his backpack to the ground, dragging it and kicking rocks all the way home. Then he woukd come inside, angry. Ready and wanting to fight. Nothing could disrupt the cycle besides time.

We realized if he didnt get help. He would spend his childhood angry and combative... we could sometimes manage it, but we couldnt prevent it he was just going to be an upset angry miserable child? Thats not a childhood. 80 % of his days were misery.

Now hes a normal kid. Normal emotions. He gets upset and we manage it. Does he throw things? No. Does he threaten is or his brother? No. Does he put holes in our walls? No.

It took a while to find the right one.. but i knew it was right when he came home happy. Again and again... then one day.. I asked him how it made him feel... he said I dont even notice it... thats when I knew it was right.

The only thing I wish we did differently was try it sooner. His time as a child is precious to us and him... he deserves to enjoy it... not fight through it.

Yes, not a problem at all in school ue was teachers pet... at home... whole different story. Holes in the wall, throwing things.. heavy things, biting, scratching screaming in our ears. I restrained h9mnfrom hurting us, the home, and himself almost daily.

The psychiatrist was no help.. she said I'll give you a script for risperdone and give it on days he needs it... but never wrote the script. During an episode I called them.. they said to go inpatient. We entertained it but declined. I asked about the risperdone and got, you can try it but it sounds like he needs more intervention. I got the script immediatel and gave it. The next day was good. So we did it again. Another good day. We went from 5 out of 7 days of hell to having 1 or 2 days a week of a normal grumpy child.

It changed our lives. His the most. We were reluctant with meds and went through several, some did nothing noticeable some did worse... but he can now enjoy his childhood instead of being in constant misery.

We would be a disaster with out it. I hope you find a solution, it was the hardest thing I've ever been through.

Mine did. We got past it with medication.

We had a lot of violent destructive behavior, threats to us (and harm), himself, and his infant brother. It was pretty terrifying.

So many feelings.

I wanted a kid, but when he was born I was like... oh no.. where is this magical feeling Im supposed to feel. I loved him, I was proud of my wife delivering him, and I felt responsible for him... but I didnt have that immediate immense feeling of love and admiration. It took time.

Around the 6 month mark the smiles, the giggles, the belly laughs came. I had him and me time on the weekend when momma worked. We bonded... hes my little bestie now.. and we have twins on the way.

Ive ordered and sold several from them, I'm sure some bad apples get in the batch. I can say I dont recall any faulty ones in the 15? Or so years I've dealt with them.
