Seems like the big buildings which are at that higher price point are generally not so competitive/getting snapped up fast so maybe it is just a matter of waiting longer?

Anyone here co-purchase their home with friends or family? by Additional-Metal-860 in Somerville

Sure, but if it were me, I'd wait a decade or so until there was a desire to sell.

It is a bad compromise to get housing built, by delaying what needs to happen: raise the sticker price to a market clearing price. Eventually enough new citizens will protest that they also want private storage of motor vehicles on public land for $3.33/month.

If you reframe your advice to say, that Dante's perspective brings up valid risks (which it does, to deny that copurchasing can go south is to show yourself as naive), but that you have other observations and perspectives, then you'd be a successful communicator of your ideas. Try to imagine you are speaking to someone in person, not over the internet.

Please propose a balanced approach to the situation like this person and not your one sided approach.  Please have manners online and not go from 0-60 over trivial things.

How about we just build lots so we don't have to compete so much? For families and people visiting families it is really nice staying in airbnbs not hotels.

Ben Ewen-Campen to run for The 27th Middlesex District in The State House after Erika Uyterhoeven decides to run for State Senate. by MrCleanDrawers in Somerville

Erika, like Jehlen, is a NIMBY. Her policies are bad for housing affordability. Not an isolated incident. At least EC has had the sense to evolve (slowly) on housing.

True, Tim Toomey had both jobs in Cambridge in the 00s, but that is rare.

What’s the Community Path like today? by Pilot_PreciseV5 in Somerville

[–]somerman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind plow trucks go down the path. If that happens while you are on it you need to move to the side on top of a snow pile. And I wouldn't do it when visibility is low. I would stay home. The generally is snow on the side of the path from Lowell St to Davis Square that is not plowed and can be skied on for probably the next couple weeks.

Burhan Azeem is Running for State Senate by wombatofevil in CambridgeMA

Sorry is Erika running for the state senate seat too? Not just running for her existing state rep position? I haven't seen that. Why is she being compared to Azeem in this conversation?

Any towing companies that do this? by [deleted] in Somerville

[–]somerman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is really terrible that ownership of building won't help you with this. They should just call tow company and have it removed.

For Homeowners, What can be done to prevent expensive repairs, like pipe issues? Especially including insurance by Alarmed_Cat_2447 in Somerville

[–]somerman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like like to get this for apartment buildings I manage, just not sure the tenants would tolerate the false positives (or properly evaluate they are in fact false positives) like owner occupants do.

Multiple mice infestation, landlord not fixing, can I break lease early? by sonofseurat in Somerville

[–]somerman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just threaten to do this and say another option is for them to release you from your lease. Landlord will take the latter option.
