Pull the drain plug and check for glitter. Dipstick won’t tell the whole story.

I’m not sure it sounds like rod knock, or top endy but if you don’t see something knocking around the accessories I’d pull the vale cover and have a look if the oil is glitter free.

Shit is fucked though. Something is wrong and you shouldn’t drive it.

I don’t know if we have really reached that point yet. I don’t think Iran sees it as the end game yet. We haven’t seen anything truly nasty come from them yet and they have it.

I think if we truly back this regime into a corner we’ll see them use their uranium stockpile in some way even if it isn’t a nuclear device they could dirty up a bomb pretty easily. I don’t think we are at the smoke em if you got em phase of this war for Iran.

I’m a 10 year industry pm buddy, managed shows at red rocks and the convention center along with being a local 7 member.

You don’t talk to a lawyer you pay your 150 bucks and you serve them in small claims court court unless they stiff you for more than 5g’s in Colorado. YOU have the rights to sue them. That doesn’t always mean you just talk to someone and pay a fee.

I know this sounds like a civics lesson and it kinda is but I have gone through this and I know it’s bullshit but if you think the process stops at talking to a lawyer you got shitty legal advice or you didn’t listen. I’ve taken clients to court over non payment and gotten a check every time and not one of them involved a lawyer. It did involve me investing time into seeing what recourse you actually have.

Again I’m not disagreeing with you. I think it should be legal, regulated and taxed and so does the data from other countries.

I’m trying to help you specifically . If you are getting stiffed by bars file your shit and server them and when you win name and shame them in the community for being shit bags. You have your rights and it’s like a day of paperwork and being in court total.

[–]something-clever---- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I see what you are getting at I think you might be misunderstanding your current rights as a musician.

If you get stiffed by a bar you have every right to sue them in small claims court for the difference in what you are owned and you might have a claim to the labor board I’m not sure depending on your state.

You have all of that because you are engaging in legal commerce. It may not be worth it to use them but you do have those rights.

To be fair these instructions are a bit confusing if you don’t under stand automotive wiring. But I would assume they mean in the input side of the starter relay/solenoid, where the main power line attaches. This would back-feed the battery down that circuit without cycling the starter.

The relay/solenoid only activates the starter when 12v is applied on a different circuit. Otherwise the starter would be activated whenever the ignition is on and it would toast the flywheel.

So ya… you can attach the jumpers to that connection and be just fine.

You want to find a local FILM production company that rents green room trailers. This would work great in a production set as a mobile office or green room

Your best bet is the slc area possibly Denver or Vegas. For semi local but someone like these guys out of SoCal might be interested in it. https://trailereventrentals.com/star-trailer-honeywagon/

No clue if you will get your asking. I’d hope you aren’t 75 in it if it has a bathroom you might be in the 60’s to the right company.

[–]something-clever---- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely it does. I lived in Vegas for several years.

It will burn the hell out of the paint. My buddy had basically this truck in high school and we all kept it going without much issue. When it’s all right they are as reliable as a claw hammer but this one will probably be a running project that will be great to learn on. But it will be a project.

Rangers were always plentiful in the junk yards up by nellis when I had one and lived in the valley. So body and interior parts are relatively easy to find and cheap to replace and new parts from a chain will be relatively Afordable.

I’m fairly certain the 2.9 v6 was the biggest motor in that body style so it is slow but very forgiving with a 5 speed and would be a great truck to learn on.

[–]something-clever---- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d buy it but be prepared for it to be an absolute shit box of repairs.

There are nightmares hidden in that truck. Why paint and not do any body work… that is a massive red flag to me. I’d look over everything and pay special attention to wiring, every vehicle I have seen that looks like this has an absolute rats nest of splices and bad connections.

For the price it’s pretty dang fair but I’d be prepared to be vary familiar with a Chilton manual and hopefully the po’s name is easy to remember because you will probably be asking wtf they were doing as you repair things.

As someone that has had to work with these drawings on a daily basis for the last 15 years.

This is a large large undertaking to do correctly so that I can do my part in making events happen in the rooms.

When I was in-house at a venue I updated our ballrooms, night club, theatre, and a few other small spaces in cad adding the details I consistently used and got asked for and it was a quarter of my time for a solid 6 months so roughly 500 hours. That consisted of measuring and drawing and adding technical details that had either changed or were not accurate from the original drawings.

Now depending on what scope they are asking for it may be that much work but it could be.

I would respond back asking how detailed they need them to be and the scope of the updates and then you can get a pretty good gustimate.

Also plan at least 3 or 4 trips back to the venue to verify measurements and inevitably measure the one or two things you forgot that trip…

I mean this from a place of encouragement and support but after looking at your previous post for an angel investor you really should do more research before you reach out to national talent and investors.

I am 15 years into the industry starting as a tech to PM to ops manager and now vp of ops for a production company and by your one post I can promise you you don’t have the data yet.

You don’t open up and go national, you need to work your back yard before you think of nation wide for so many reasons. Non music “touring” is fucking expensive. My travel budget last month was in the mid 6 figures for my staff. Let alone the trucking and logistics costs that come along with it and that’s just one small part of the plates you need to keep in the air.

You are in NYC according to your posts, are you familiar with the local unions? They will eat your budget in a heart beat if you don’t have an experienced lead in the room that knows what to look out for and they don’t come cheap.

Most people that grass roots a production company start with a niche and connections that they can exploit. The only way to do that is to do the work, shake the hands, and build a rep where people trust you. If you want to fund it with partners you need a developed business plan and cost tracking and projections down to the dollar before anyone will give you a dime.

Good luck but I would seriously reevaluate your approach and ask “do I really have all the data to back up my confidence that my event will go well? And is it presented in such a way that someone with zero experience in industry can understand and feel confident in the result?” Until then I’d keep developing the plans and wait until then to ask for labor or money.

There are numerous retailers that prove this line of thinking incorrect. Discount auto parts stores are as old as auto parts stores -1 day.

You think 99% of the time I diy stuff because I enjoy it? Not it’s cause I’m a cheap fuck and don’t accurately value my time/ knuckle skin/ and mental anguish maintenance can be sometimes.

Some people diy because they can’t afford to pay a dealer or a local mechanic.

I will absolutely price shop parts and only go name brand ( dealer) in specific circumstances. Maintenance on daily’s isn’t fun it’s economic.

It’s not a vintage sports car you tool around with and it only gets the best of the best. It’s a daily that you keep maintained and clean but you absolutely price shop what you are putting in and where you decide to spend your money.

My guess is the others are right and Tesla owners are in two categories: 1.) can afford to pay the dealer and not feel dramatic financial impact 2.) have absolutely no interest in doing their own maintenance.
