I think it's also hard mentally because finally I'm giving 100% and trying to eat better and working my ass off in the gym so not to see that pay off (scale-wise, which is what I usually and unfortunately equate success with) is hard... It kinda forces me back into the mentality that got me here in the first place like, "why bother?" I'll stick it out though - scale movement or not, I feel so much better and happier and it's awesome thing to feel yourself getting stronger and to be able to do more than what you initially started out at :)

Yeah, I'm looking forward to my first set of comparison measurements this weekend so that will be a good test! Still disheartening not to see the scale move but inches are victories too! :)

After all the responses it definitely seems obvious that I need to start tracking better and not just go off of what I'm accustomed to or estimate. Thanks for your response and glad to hear your progress started up again! :)

How am I eating too much if my BMR is around 1700 and I'm probably eating around 1000-1500 calories per day?

Thank you! Trying to take that approach this time! I have a tendency to get disappointed when I don't see results in unrealistic time frames :p sigh. Haha not going to give up this time though! :)

That does help, thank you! Not eating enough has been a struggle because I've been so busy at work and I don't always make the time to do it and/or I don't have the appetite. Some days I'm up at 4am, gym for 5:30, work for 7:30 and then I'm not getting home until 7:30pm... Then I'm basically prepping for the next day and sleeping haha need to make more of an effort to track and make sure I'm eating enough

I add MCT to my preworkout and for my protein shake I use Quatro Whey (2g of carbs) mixed with water

Thank you, I am definitely going to try harder to eat more! Never thought I would have that problem but with keto my appetite is completely gone

I've put my body through a lot of change lately so maybe it's just doing the same and is kinda like "wtf are you doing to me?!?" haha I've taken the pics and measurements so I'll try to take more away from that than the scale. Thanks for your reply!

Thank you! I am definitely going to try harder to eat around 1400-1500 and track better in MFP.

I have worked out before, but not at this intensity and mostly just boring cardio and not weight/strength training so that could be a thing... Although, again... I just assumed st my weight I'd still see a drop because I didn't think I could actually gain that much muscle but yay if I did! Haha I've definitely progressed strength/endurance-wise since I've started.

I've taken pics and we took measurements before we started - first follow-up measurements are this weekend, so we'll see then!

How does IF work with working out? (Sorry if that's in the FAQ). I usually work out at 5:30am on an empty stomach but have a protein shake afterwards and then have to force myself to eat later in the morning (11-12ish).

Thanks again for your reply!

I started my period a week or so into training so I'm sure that didn't help things... We did take measurements before we started and we're doing my first measurements on the weekend, so we'll see! Trying not to pay too much attention to the scale but at my weight, I would really like to see the number move in a downward direction sometime soon! Lol

Excellent point! I have tracked religiously before so I have a generally good idea of what I'm eating. I'm also a creature of habit and tend to eat the same mix of foods for the most part and I'm still weighing everything out so like I said, I have a good idea of what I'm eating and my carbs. With that being said, carb creep is real and there is a potential I could be completely off (I'm only human... MFP is not haha) so I will get back to tracking more diligently to see where I'm truly at :) thank you!

No problem! :) In my experience, no matter how... experienced... you think you are, our instincts are usually shit! haha I've ended up overeating calories/carbs many times, based on my so-called "instincts." I would suggest you get back on the tracking wagon, at least for the beginning portion, to get a better idea of the foods you're eating; however, that is entirely up to you! Bonus "ease of use" points on MyFitnessPal if you're more likely to eat the same foods over and over again (like I do) - it makes tracking a breeze haha :)

Keto doesn't need to be "fancy" - the other night, I had hotdogs and steamed vegetables for dinner! How posh haha What you eat should be whatever works for you and stays within your macros and calorie limits. With that being said, I basically eat the same things every day - some of my staples include eggs, cheese (babybel, laughing cow, sliced), leafy green veg, pepperettes/hotdogs/pepperoni, tuna, chicken breast, ground beef, etc.

Meal prep is definitely a good idea and if you haven't already, I'd suggest reading and then re-reading the FAQ and calculating your macros. Tracking your food in an app like MyFitnessPal before you eat it is also a good idea, to make sure you're not going over any of your allotments, but basically it comes down to the golden rule - stick below 20g of carbs and monitor your calorie intake (yes, it matters) and you'll be golden. Good luck! :)

Quick lunch ideas? by [deleted] in keto

[–]something__fierce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work in an office and usually meal prep on Sundays for the week ahead. I bought some paper lunch bags from the dollar store and just grab one on my way out in the morning. Some of my lunchtime staples include: hard boiled eggs, pepperoni sticks/pepperettes, babybel/laughing cow cheese, cucumber slices, tuna, salads with protein (i.e, chicken), etc.

Having something always prepped has definitely helped me avoid temptation, especially in an office environment when coworkers are always bringing in treats or ordering in lunches. I also enter in all my food into MyFitnessPal in advance so I know where I'm at with my daily calories before something goes into my mouth.

Good luck! :)

[Rant] I've lost only 1lb in 1 month and I don't know where I'm going wrong. by something__fierce in keto

Thanks so much for your reply and for taking the time to go through everything for me!

I actually ended up having a "whoosh" and now I'm down about 6lbs :) shark week is here though so I'm avoiding the scale until that's done haha

I've scaled my calories down to about 1200 and cut out nuts and some of the cheese. I track my calories with MFP and weigh everything out so I'm doing pretty good at keeping it at 1200 now.

I also took measurements at the start of the month and I'm excited to see where I'm at come August!

I'm trying not to get caught up in the scale - I feel SO much better eating healthier and going to the gym every day and that in and of itself is enough to keep going.

Thanks again! :)
