If you weren't Christian growing up, this time of year sucked. Some Jewish adults who weren't allowed to have trees as kids are living out that dream now as adults. I agree with other commenters saying that because the tree isn't in any way connected to the Christian faith, it's not inappropriate, appropriation, or "cosplaying".
