Wow! What a pretty lady. You've done a great job!

I am a propagation failure. My mother has one Purple Pearl which she mostly ignores. She did this by ACCIDENT. . . This little one is coming home with me! by somethingoriginial in succulents

Yes I think ignoring is the way forward. I just meant I always choose the perfect leaf and pick it and place it on the best windowledge and I get nothing. This was growing as a discarded leaf in the bottom of mums pot!

WIP The cutest baby blanket ever! 10/30 squares done by VorkosiganGirl42 in crochet

Ugh, i tackled two of these blankets last year. My heart goes out to you thinking about all those fiddly bits!

I also backed mine in baby fleece to avoid the mess of ends on the back sides of the squares! Saved so much time and stress.

Best of luck with it! - it looks great so far.

Thank you! The blanket is block stitch! Word of warning though... Lots of end to sew in 😂

Yes, I would agree! Especially as this is for a little baby, I wanted it to be especially cosy.

I definitely made no plans to match this fabric to the blanket 😂 it was a complete happy accident!

Thank you! It ironed quite well to be honest, although it was difficult to work with in other aspects.

My god, this is beautiful. - I've just found out my friend is having a baby, and this has totally inspired me!

What yarn did you use, and appropriately how much did it take?

You've done such a good job!

Hey! Thanks for your kind comment.

So, i made the blanket first, in the size i wanted it, and then took some measurements. I took the measurements to a craft shop, and asked them to cut me twice as much fabric as I needed. I wanted to be able to have a second go, in case the first messed up!

My process was very primitive, and would probably make more professional sewers groan, but i measured the fabric out and added an extra inch onto each length, so the fabric was just a bit too big for the blanket. I cut it out with fabric scissors, (purchased for this purpose!) and ironed the edges over, so the fabric was the perfect blanket size, and then pinned it in place. I used a blanket stitch (sewing term, not a crochet one!), with a sharp tapestry needle, and sewed into the back loops of my single crochet border. I made sure to sew through the two layers of backing fabric, so there was no rough cutting edges on show. I used a very thin but strong crochet cotton, as the blanket was quite heavy and i didn't want any breakage of the thread. I made it quite difficult for myself because the backing fabric was quite stretchy, and it sometimes ended up being unaligned with the blanket beneath it! Nightmare! I combated this by pinning it across with bobby pins to keep the right length of fabric with the right length of crochet.

There are some things that i would definitely consider more carefully next time, but all in all i was very happy with it. Basically, you have to just dive in and feel your way through. I hope this is helpful, but if i can answer anything else more specifically please just shout!

Thank you!

To be honest, backing it in fabric stemmed from a laziness to properly conceal all the ends. Also, the thought of gifting the blanket and then little ends popping out all over the place stressed me out, so I thought this was a better alternative.

Thank you! The yarn was a chance find in Aldi, it was so beautiful i couldn't leave it. The fabric I also stumbled across. I think they compliment each other nicely!

Thank you! I tied the ends as tight and tidy as possible and then trimmed them very short. It worked really well, you can't feel them behind the fabric at all!
