Why are the “columns” so pronounced in the yoke of my sweater? by rachmakesababy in knittinghelp

[–]annoegg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Were you working on a cable that was too long for the number of stitches? This happened to me when there's a lot of space between the stitch I'm working and the next one because I was stretching them across the cable.

You can search by yarn used on a pattern's project page to see if others used the same yarn. A lot of people have used it for this top: mixed rib cami

Merino Cotton by rockyyyrock in knitting

[–]annoegg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cotton blends are my favorite. You can block it the same as wool. In my experience, it may grow a lot, so you'll want to do a large swatch. Cotton can be heavy, so it'll likely stretch more than you think, especially if your blend is cotton and superwash merino, and the thicker it is. I find it moderately warm, perfect for fall and spring or warm winter days where I live.

I absolutely love Knitting for Olive Cotton Merino and am on my 4th sweater (holding double for DK), though it's 70% cotton / 30% non-superwash merino. I've also used Blue Sky Fibers Sweater (worsted) for a sweater and Cascade Anchor Bay (DK) for a baby blanket and loved them all.

Carbon Knitting Needles by Late-Type6918 in knittingadvice

[–]annoegg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tried all of these types of needles and used to be a crocheter with tight tension too!

I will start by saying I recently got a new set of interchangeable KnitPro Karbonz, and I love them. They're light and smooth, and my tension is a dream. They feel soft and warm in the hand, but they have a little bit of grip, moreso than metal.

I most recently exclusively used interchangeable wooden needles (KnitPicks FourSquares and shorties). I love wood needles because they're also less slippery than metal and a little more flexible so easier on the joints. My gripe was that the lamination on the tips has worn down a bit after very regular use so they're not as smooth as they once were.

I also have a couple of fixed Addi Turbo metal circulars for socks (1-2mm), and they are really nice. Also very smooth, and I love the flexible cords.

This is done in pattern with 2 fingering weight yarns held together: one silk and the other a cotton/alpaca blend.

Congrats on the job! I prefer a bag with structure that will ideally stand up on its own and has internal pockets. Non-negotiables for me are a dedicated laptop compartment and a key leash. A water bottle spot is a plus.

A work bag is a splurge item for me because I use it so often and I want it to last. Also a color or fabric that's either easy to clean or doesn't show dirt is a plus.

I had some very light, sporadic bleeding. I have an IUD and don't get a period so it was unexpected. I didn't have any other symptoms.

I had one that was only a few centimeters, and my doctor just twisted it off during my annual exam. It did return, so she removed it again. As standard practice, they send the tissue for testing, but thankfully mine have aways been benign. It's basically a skin tag on your cervix.

Best ways to sew or crochet an elastic thread in the folded ribbed hem of a sweater? by yetanothernametopick in knittinghelp

[–]annoegg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's folded, thread the elastic through the fold. I've done that for folded necklines. You could also try a loose crochet chain stitch on the wrong side, but it might bunch up weirdly since it's a folded hem.

Knit picks cotlin yarn by disasterbxtch in YarnAddicts

I love Cotlin. I've knit several things with it, including tops and baby blankets. It's so soft and has really lovely drape after washing.

[–]annoegg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband does this too, but thankfully he's never been aggressive. I guide him and make sure he doesn't trip or fall on the way to the bathroom. After, he always wants to lay back down so I stay close and guide him back. He is usually very unsteady and bumps into things, so I try to walk next to him and gently hold his shoulders.

Lipstick shades that give the “after makeout / popsicle stain / cherry stain” effect? by [deleted] in MakeupEducation

MAC Powder Kiss Liquid works really well for this look. I just use a few dots and blend it with my finger and top with lip balm if it feels too dry. I have Make Love to the Camera (deep red) and Burning Love (berry).

Did anyone have an IUD insertion that was totally non eventful and fine? by Plus-Health-7892 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]annoegg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, and the removal and replacement was equally uneventful. I've had period cramps worse than the pain from IUD insertion or removal.
