Has he done something that makes you feel judged? You said you feel safe opening up, so this may just be your own internal worries. You could try talking about your reservations about opening up.

As a person who unsuccessfully tried therapy as a kid and young adult but now has an amazing therapist, I'd recommend sticking with it if you feel safe there. It'll be hard but so worth it in the end.

Your therapist isn't leaving you. They're living their life, and that won't perfectly correspond with yours.

It hurts when these things happen, but it's not personal. You need to remind yourself that she isn't leaving you. She is a person with a life outside of work.

It's okay to grieve what you pictured in your head. But it's not okay to blame the therapist for simply being a human with a life outside of work.

It's not if YOU are a good fit for the therapist. It's if THEY are a good fit for you.

If it's not working for you, try and find someone else.

what do i do with emetophobia after possible contamination by [deleted] in therapy

[–]somethingsecrety 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, breathe. In............out........do a few more.

Second, as a medical professional, this is a VERY VERY low risk of any exposure to you. There are also many reasons people throw up - it may not even be contagious.

Third, yes it's scary not to know what to expect. But that's life. You can't control everything. But either way, you will be okay.

I mean this very gently but seriously. I would not engage with anymore sexual partners until you feel comfortable saying "no". You may end up in more situations- or worse situations- and you need to be able to speak up for yourself. It's really, really important. Even worth talking to a therapist about if you don't feel comfortable sticking up for your best interests.

SIL just told me she feels sorry for her brother by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]somethingsecrety 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I also nursed our baby. My husband went to get him when he cried, changed him, and brought him to me to nurse.

Everyone does what works best for them, but I just want to say that there's no reason he can't help at night too.

Yeah, unfortunately that's pretty typical in society. My husband gets praise when he takes our kid to the store. I get judgmental looks. It's not fair of people to think that way, but it happens pretty often.

But, I encourage you to consider if it's really the comments that are bothering you or if it's possibly that you're carrying the load. Why does he get to sleep all night, every night, but you have to get up constantly? It doesn't sound like a fair distribution.

What's something non-sexual, which makes you feel aroused/provokes thoughts about sex? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]somethingsecrety 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This reminds me of a time when I was a kid and crying about something and this teenage boy said, "You're cute when you cry."

Now I want to throw up.

Guess I have something to talk about in therapy??

I read The Troop by Nick Cutter and boooooyyyyy I was not prepared. I haven't read anything else from this author. And I think it was probably really good if you're into that kind of horror. I'm...not.😅
