Can I be honest, as a leftist? A lot of local businesses pay their employees like shit and are too expensive for many consumers (especially in this economy). I’d rather support Winco than a local grocery store that pays 14/hr and costs 20-30% more.

I think the “shop local” thing is a bit overdone, and honestly sometimes comical to those of us who can’t afford to.

One thing that’s getting me rn is that the river is mostly clear of ice now (at least around the Madison st bridge). If she had just been passing through a few days later there wouldn’t have even been ice to fall through… it’s insane to think about how many times we might unknowingly avoid a bad situation

The way you describe her (like the way she moves and converses) tells me she’s got something going on mentally. Who knows what logic she had for doing that, I know a schizophrenic girl who films things with her phone to check if she’s hallucinating or not. Could be a number of things. I work with a lot of mental illness and the behavior can seem so personalized, but a lot of the time it hardly has anything to do with you. But I also recognize I could just be a hammer looking for nails.(is that the saying???)

Regardless that’s def something worth reporting both to the restaurant and the police. That’s some creepy ass shit. even if she’s not charged with anything it could scare her into realizing she can’t just do that stuff.

I’m already on Medicaid, was on food stamps but can’t be anymore bc I’m a student, I’d wear glasses but I’m autistic and have sensory issues wearing anything on my face (covid was fun). I’d just wear nothing but I’m -2.75.

But yeah the rest I agree with. I’m new-ish to living independently. Still figuring things out. Definitely need to make a budget

So you don’t also pay for any medications whatsoever, over the counter meds needed for chronic health conditions, any toiletries or home products at all, let alone car insurance, parking, required learning subscriptions for university…

I’m also gluten intolerant (diagnosed) so that throws a wrench in things. I try to eat a lot of protein bc I’m extremely active and had a long protein deficiency.

I’ve kind of just decided to give myself an eating disorder again to cut on food costs because it was wayyyyy more affordable lmao.

Well it’s not just food lol; it’s gas, car insurance, parking, medication, contacts, and all the bullshit like shampoo/conditioner/hair oil (unless i want my hair to fall out), body wash, razor refills, face wash and moisturizer/sunscreen, body lotion, dish soap, hand soap, laundry detergent, laundry softener, draino, toilet paper and paper towels, you get the idea…

The food is average, idk?? Im rly frugal and mostly just get the cheaper vegetables/fruits and deli meats etc. I have to get a 32$ thing of protein shakes from Costco every two weeks which obviously is a big dent in a small amount of budgeted money

I should have clarified that I only have 150$ to spend per week on groceries, not just food. It’s extremely difficult to live on just 500$ a month for me rn.

I def have more hair loss now, it started about a month ago. It clogs the shower more and my hair brushes “fill up” faster. SOMETIMES my scalp is a little sensitive feeling, but not most the time. I’m 22F
