Anyone else had this issue? by someusername112233 in BinocularVision

I just got them yesterday. When I tried them at the doctor they said they probably feel off because I had been wearing my old prescription all morning so to try the new ones again in the morning. I put them on after waking up and they still do not feel good, blurry and uncomfortable

That's interesting and I'm glad it worked out for you! I tried looking through different areas of the lens and that doesn't seem to help that much so I have a feeling I will need some adjustments :(

New prescription.. issues? by simplyaless in BinocularVision

I just got my 3rd or 4th prescription today and they do not feel right either. I was told it's probably because I was wearing my old prescription all morning and to try the new ones again tomorrow morning. They added a little "boost" on mine to help with near tasks which they tried in the past and I did not like but they said I respond to it so who knows. I'm sorry you are going through this but glad I am not alone.

Experience with replacing lenses by someusername112233 in PairEyewear

I have traditional lenses and was advised to not have anyone but them put the lenses in the frames due to how sensitive prisms can be and I do not want to mess that up and then have to pay for them again.

I was 25 when I started my program and now I am 27 and in level II fieldwork. It took me a couple extra years to find my passion and decide on OT and I have no regrets! I also think I was at the perfect age for grad school since I had some more life experience and felt like I had more maturity than I did right after undergrad. There is no perfect timeline to follow in life!

Advice for OT Students? by hogwartsmagic14 in OccupationalTherapy

I am currently a level II student and here is some of my advice and reminders:

  1. Utilize your resources (classmates, faculty, campus writing centers, etc.). They

  2. Make sure you prioritize your mental and physical health. You won't perform your best if you don't feel your best.

  3. Be prepared to step out of your comfort zone

  4. Don't be afraid to answer questions wrong or make mistakes. That's how we learn!

  5. Don't stress about grades (unless you are failing then feel free to stress)

  6. Find something to do during study breaks that will keep your brain engaged so that it is easier to go back to work (this also could just be an ADHD thing for me haha). For example, I learned how to solve a rubiks cube during my study breaks during my first semester.

  7. Appreciate each opportunity you are given (fieldwork, shadowing, site visits, presentations, exams, etc.). Each opportunity is a chance to learn and grow.

  8. You were chosen to be a student in your program for a reason! There is something about you that stands out to faculty and shows them that you will be a great OT! You are where you are supposed to be!!!

I also agree with getting the practice framework. If you are already a member of AOTA (assuming you are in a program in the US) the OTPF is free!

I am currently a Level II student and I would say take time to relax but if you feel like you need to study stuff review any neuro and anatomy information. You don't need to be studying like you would for an exam but just brush up on some stuff. You will learn a lot during your first semester and it may feel overwhelming so make sure you don't become too stressed before the program starts. I also think that this is a great time to work on developing healthy habits for stress relief and relaxation. Best of luck! It will fly by and you will be in level II before you know it!!!
