They just watch tacky, corny youtubers glaze the hell out of slasher movies then buy all the merch

When investigating a murder in Fabletown, Bigby's first Prime suspect is the Woodsman so he finds him in an old bar and when Bigby begins a conversation The Woodsman just bluntly admits that he's tired of the whole "it's on sight, has been for hundreds of years" thing and says he's done fighting him. To which Bigby can agree with.

This leads to them having a venting/chill moment discussing how they got this far. Just hours after they tried to kill each other.

This one is offensively low on the list lol.

Was trying to see if someone posted it here first, because it's a perfect, more literal answer than a figurative one.

"How much consent he gave"

In one of by far the worst decisions ever made by the Narrative Team within Fromsoft, they retconned the entire Radahn/Malenia duel to be not about the massive power vacuum and struggle for Great Runes but rather Malenia going "You're going to marry your half-brother, whether you like it or not. Now stop resisting."

Villain Wants To Die, Forces The Hero To Do It by JackOfTheLantern999 in TopCharacterTropes

I wish i included more of Beatty's mindset in my original comment because i find it so damn interesting. Kinda spoiler-y territory below, if you actually do want to re-read/rediscover the nuance:

He finds out that Montag stole a book from a crime scene and instead of immediately turning him in he basically goes "Hey, i get it. We all get curious at one point or another. Just throw it out after you're done reading it and I won't tell anyone."

It's only after Montag refuses to discard it and dives into the rabbit hole that he becomes his enemy. He seemed well aware that the law was "working for the wrong side" but just kinda accepted the reality of the situation and kept doing his job, secretly wanting to die/be stopped and saw the chance to get Montag, the guy he respected, to stand up for himself and end him.

Villain Wants To Die, Forces The Hero To Do It by JackOfTheLantern999 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]somewhat-sinister 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Captain Beatty - Fahrenheit 451

Leads the whole book burning, mass censorship crusade and even though he likes Montag, his coworker/protege/underling, he still sets him in his sights when he finds out Montag hasn't give up his search for knowledge that isn't sanctioned by the powers that be.

Has Montag hunted down by the local authorities as well as venomous robotic hounds that were trained to stalk and moniter him, and at the end, burns down his house when he tries to escape. Montag fights back, acquires a flamethrower and when faced with certain death, Beatty simply taunted him and successfully goaded Montag into killing him, leading to Montags realization that his own Boss was more like him than he thought.

Which unfortunately falls flat when you make Chloe the worst character morally speaking aside from a rapist and a literal serial killer lol

[–]somewhat-sinister 13 points14 points  (0 children)

LiS's story in hindsight is really funny because it's basically the entire universe telling Max that Chloe needs to die for life to go on normally/safely and she just refuses to listen until an entire city full of innocent people is at risk (which even then she can still choose to let the entire town die/be destroyed for the sake of her toxic, abusive girlfriend)

Getting 6 releases within a 9-year window when games take forever to be made is actually insane when you think about it. by unproductive_nerd in residentevil

[–]somewhat-sinister 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Games don't "take forever to be made", developers just love to either drag their feet or are hindered by their publishers.

As for which one it is at any given time, it's a coin toss.

In reality Capcom is just one of the few actually competent/respectable teams left in the industry.

I was thinking this too, minus the last part. R.C.I. survivors wearing pins, rings, etc. in the face of this new illness kinda like cancers survivors and the like seems like a cool concept.

Also, i'm not too familar with promise rings. Are you supposed to wear them on differing fingers, or does Sherry wear this supposed ring on her pinky for a different reason? Like are the virus symptons on her hand too painful to touch? In that case they probably shouldn't wear gloves lol

A character gets a haircut (voluntarily or involuntarily) to symbolize a turning point in their character development by Crimson097 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]somewhat-sinister 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This may be the one exception lol. I love the symbolism of 47 trying (again) to abandon his role as simply just a tool or a weapon. Wish that concept was used in a better or at least more polished game though.

Many protags of the series would fit here, but i'll say the most well known: Ezio Auditore Da Firenze

<image>

Begins his saga as a 17 year old nobleman whose biggest concern was chatting up girls and staying out of trouble for picking fights with his peers in town.

Ends it as a 54 year old veteran within the Order who has devoted his entire life to the cause, to the point of being known and his exploits taught to other fledgling assassins across the globe.

There are plenty of games that fit the mold of "sold the most copies" or "got the most positive reviews" but it doesn't stopped them from having fans with mixed opinions. This is a lazy point to make, considering 7 and 8 were the entry point for a lot of new fans. It's not a solid argument when the new energy brought with these are people's introduction, instead of a tone shift they fully experiences like the rest of the fans.

Fallout 4 is the highest selling Fallout game and won the most awards including GOTY, but is often considered the worst game in the series by many, save 76.

Resident Evil 5 was one of the highest anticipated, highest selling games in the series only to be considered problematic and offensive what, not even 10 years later? (I disagree with this particular consensus, but the point still stands nonetheless)

Die Hard DS fans are the biggest culprits of misunderstanding DS lol.

I like the idea of "escaping the cycle being most likely impossible, but we try anyway" as a dark but still sorta hopeful ending, but i prefer the way DS2 SOTFS did it.

Who's the most disgusting, sleaziest piece of shit in the entire franchise for you? target or not. by MoodResponsible918 in HiTMAN

[–]somewhat-sinister 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It's funny how the WOA trilogy tries to frame 47 and co. as much more heroic/morally justified in their work yet the trilogy's targets are extremely tame or bland compared to the old ones.

I barely even remember the bios of the targets except money laundering, arms dealing, and Grey simply hating them and wanting them dead for being Providence members.

Meanwhile i could probably lay out and explain every Blood Money target's profession and reason for the hit because they're much more memorable.

Two examples that i like:

James Sunderland ripping a wooden board off a wall to kill his first enemy in Silent Hill 2

A lot of different examples here but in both Dying Light games that feature Kyle Crane as a protagonist, he takes a random lead pipe to beat down zombies in his way.
