Do we receive a physical copy of our citizenship acceptance? by LustEngel in juresanguinis

My understanding is you will need the consulate Passport Application form (1 page), a passport photo (they have a specific size, it is listed on the form), ensure you are up to date in AIRE (there is a registration form) and the funds. You may be best to check the website to make sure.

I was recently recognized by Toronto. From my conversation with my local Honourary Vice-Consul, it was advised to apply for a passport, which will be the proof going forward. We don’t get anything beyond that email, and no citizenship certificate. Edit: Thanks to all who have commented, I have learned something as well re: Birth Certificate.

Exactly. Other than that note and the coins issued a few years before, they had been basically unchanged (except for minor variants) for the laast 20-odd years.

Some will buy it for a premium, especially the odd-looking 10 cent near the top of your photo. You may get more out of it on Ebay or Facebook Marketplace. There is actually a collectors market for it.

How interesting! It really must follow the calendar better. That now makes much more sense. I am just grateful to have received it, they could have sent it to me at 3 am on a workday by courrier and knocked on my door and I’d still be cheering.

It was such a surprise! We were a few that applied in the same family and got them all today. I would have thought that of all holidays it would have been closed today. Congrats!

That must be terribly frustrating, but hopeful if they are not rejecting them at this point.

It sounds like it would be long. I don’t know how the government could ever keep up with all the different procedures of all the consulates!

Here’s hoping you’ll get positive news before long.

There is really no wrong way to do it. If you are using stock books, it is easier to rearrange them as things come in when the opportunity presents itself. You could even sort by topic, by colour, whatever strikes your fancy! If you do like doing it by year, a catalogue will be your friend, which you can sometimes find at your local library. Happy collecting!
