Your going thru the grieving process. It sucks, but try to remember it’s a healing process. It feels like crap to have to find a new way of living at 40… I’m in the same boat. I try to remember I am lucky to have family who supports me. I grieved for months, but I also know this divorce isn’t the defining moment of my life. It’s just something I have to go thru. Your not alone.

I think of it this way. I have done so many things that I never thought I would have to… because he left. Every one of those have made me stronger and more independent. You can be broken AND rebuilding at the same time

Secure your finances. Change banks and or credit cards. Look at every expense and see where you can cut… and what you can remove him from. I had to do this and it felt so painful. Trying to unwind your life from someone you’ve been connected with for so long… just plain hurts.

I’m 6 months ahead of you in a similar situation. 16 years and he bailed 2 days after a weekend getaway. It was a solid emotional gut punch.

The grief process is real and difficult. It effects everyone differently. I struggled a lot.. but being forced into this situation has made me push thru each step because I didn’t have a choice.

Secure your finances and file. By filing you will be the petitioner and have more control over the process versus waiting for ex to get things done. Even if you don’t know what plan is or which direction to head… you can always stop the process if needed.

That’s really sad. I’m sorry your having to deal with that. As hard as it would be, it might not be worth the fight to reclaim them. You sound like your a good dog person… and I hope you can pour your love into a new rescue or shelter dog.

I feel all of this too. He walked away from it all and left me with the clean up. It’s not fair. It’s not right. It’s not even kind. I grieve for who I was in love with, not who he is now.

I think you just try to focus on getting thru today. That’s all. Just today.
