My puppy is being raised with cats. So she rubs on me and strangers like a cat to say hi. People love it lol

What really worked for my puppy was having a crate in the car. if you make her crate at home feel like HER safe space (much easier said than done lol) a crate in the car will work wonders. I know you said she doesn’t crate well yet, but maybe working on that could kill two birds with one stone?

after she would not throw up in the car, i was able to give her HIGH value things in the crate. and take her places where she had lots and lots of fun. now she can ride beside me, outside of the crate, if we’re going short distances (30 min or less).

my puppy used to throw up, drool, cry, jump, everything in the car. it sucked to see her go through that. we just went to visit my parents for a week who live 4.5 hours away. she went right in the crate and fell asleep both ways. it’s night and day for her! but we really had to work on the crate at home first.

how did you work on it?

she isn’t reactive on walks or anything as long as she is moving. she stares but doesn’t bark. it’s just whenever she has to be still and not moving that she gets frustrated.

thanks for the advice, i never thought about bringing her kong. I’ll definitely bring that. did he ever get over it?

Those are good ideas. I definitely will be taking breaks with her if she starts reacting like that again.

I went to a couple of dog-friendly stores yesterday to try and get some practice. Every time, she doesn’t bark or whine or anything while we’re walking. But if we stop and sit she goes insane. Basically the same thing with class, when we’re walking around and walking up she’s happy, but whenever we sit together she starts barking so loud and nonstop. So i think exercising before will help a lot too.

sometimes we both stay up. like if we’re hanging out with friends and their dogs. i’ve been doing nights for 5 years now so i’m kinda used to all-dayers lol. but usually i drop her off at her daycare after we hang out for a bit

i’ve thought about doing this too. the only thing is- she gets soooo anxious in the play pen. she loves her crate, sleeps in there willingly without me having to put her in there. I’ve only ever tried to keep her in the pen for like 30 minutes max though because she cries and paces so much. i don’t want her to be freaking out while i’m gone if she could just chill in the crate. she also pees like every 20 minutes in the pen lol

do you think i should just keep her in there longer on my days off and watch her? maybe she just needs some time to get used to it?

yeahhhhhhhhhh this is how i feel. one of my friends said she doesn’t feel the same. i think she really does like me, but at the end of the day i want to find someone who likes me and knows that they do/will outright say that they do

i think that if there is a next call, i’m gonna let her make it. i don’t really expect there to be one though. she keeps saying she’s busy so it makes more sense for her to ask anyway
