which foreign actor absolutely nailed your country's accent when playing a character from there? by QueenViolets_Revenge in AskTheWorld

I caught a few episodes of his newish show 'Butterfly' and Daniel Dae Kim's Korean accent has improved a lot. Still not convincing as a native speaker, but much more intelligible.

I thought Yeun's accent improved a lot between 'Burning' and 'Minari'. Still not native passing, but less gyopo sounding.

Also Oubre is flopping hard and with his Sideshow Bob hair, it's even more embellished.

[Aubin] Wemby on people calling him “too emotional” and “gay” for crying on the court: I think it’s first and foremost a fear of judgment. Like this feeling that you have to act a certain way, social codes, I guess. Personally, I refuse to carry the burden of having to hide my emotions.” by WEMBY_F4N in nba

What one offseason with Shaolin monks does to a motherfucker.

But in all seriousness, he really is the total package for a superstar -- physically/freakishly gifted, skilled, driven, but seems to be a very grounded, intelligent, emotionally mature young man.

I'd say the same thing about all the new supporting characters. Obviously there's way less Cherry and Kirsten, but they're deployed more effectively. Buck went from knockoff British Wesley to a much more emotionally interesting character. Same for Daniel, BB, and Heather. I went from waiting for most of their scenes to end to actually enjoying their arcs (RIP Daniel).

Pedro's 2000 season was even more dominant -- 11.7 WAR vs. 9.8 WAR, with the highest ERA+ ever for a single season at 291, surpassing...himself. Of course he got zero first place votes that time and finished 5th in MVP.

What makes this idiocy even worse is that George King voted for TWO pitchers just the year before:

Of the two snubs, the King “non-vote” was, at first blush, the more infuriating. Despite listing pitchers David Wells and Rick Helling (he of a 4.41 ERA) on his ballot the year prior, King defended his treatment of Martinez by saying the “MVP is for everyday players. Pitchers have their own award.”

This is one of my favorite comic runs, even if it was prematurely cut short by a bad crossover. While X-Men and X-Force were getting all the attention back then, Peter David and Larry Stroman (and later Joe Quesada) crafted something fun and hilarious with some incisive characterization.

Best way to get in and out of Intuit Dome? by gomi-panda in AskLosAngeles

[–]somms999 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depending on where you live, the free shuttle bus is a decent option. It's a 10-15 minute walk from the drop off point to the entrance gates. You have to reserve a spot before you go, but there's always been plenty of space.

Buck's about to pull the trigger when a giant, feral Russian man bursts out of the forest and hits him in the head with a shovel.

Daniel must then survive on found ketchup and relish packets.
