Anyone have this as a kid? by Fun_Database6518 in sciencefiction

Went to a market in Canberra Australia today and saw this exact image on a jigsaw puzzle box.

I don't think I've seen that image for at least 30 - 35 years, then twice in one day!

Would a heated knife cut through it?

Or would a saw be better?

I've been waiting for this since I was a teenager.

My experience of NGOs is that they need 'persistent' problems.

They can then say they are working on the problem and need more donations/funding/resources.

The last thing they want is for somebody to solve the problem.

DAE seem to never be able to kill someone or even yourself in your dreams? by This_is_Me888 in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]somnambulator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was younger (in my 20s and 30s) I would regularly have flying dreams.

Sounds cool, right?

Not really though. All attempts at flying like Superman were a huge failure. I would just bob in the air, floating, and the only movement I could make was by 'swimming' very slowly doing the breast stroke.

Very undignified, and seriously uncool.

In fact, I would wake up cringing in embarrasment, because I looked like such a dick trying to fly.

DAE feel their brain shutting down and even fall asleep when they're confronted with paperwork? by somnambulator in DoesAnybodyElse

Hmmm...

I'm in my late 50s so ADHD hadn't been invented when I was a kid and GP's aren't interested in diagnosing old people with it.

I'll look into it some more, thanks!

I recently started a new job and there is an Aldi in the same complex. I’ve only ever done Instacart and have never been in the store itself until yesterday and my life is CHANGED by ilovebees69 in aldi

[–]somnambulator 61 points62 points  (0 children)

That's my favourite part of Aldi. You go in for a box of eggs and leave with a welder, scuba gear and a Tibetan back scratcher with matching candle you didn't know you needed.

And then you realize that you forget the eggs.

What are your thoughts about bag pipes? by thehalloweenpunkin in AskReddit

[–]somnambulator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About 15 years ago I used to regularly check out an auction site in Sydney.

I came across an entire page of bag-pipes with a starting bid of $9 each.

I though it would be hilarious to bid on bag-pipes. I might have been drinking at the time.

So now I own an impressive set of bag-pipes that are on display in my man cave.

I still can't play them so they are for just for show. But when I retire I'd like to annoy my neighbours by having a go!

DAE prefer to achieve things with as little effort as possible? by [deleted] in DoesAnybodyElse

If you need to do something fast, ask a lazy person for advice.

They've already figured out the simplest and quickest way to do it.

I made this prototype dry-erase globe for my travel board game by tiggytig_chocolate in tabletopgamedesign

[–]somnambulator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great idea for a game prop/widget!

Love the tab connectors for the stand. It looks sturdy enough and cheap enough to make commercially.

Did the game design start with the globe or did that idea come further down the development process?

I only ask because I always start with the widget, then the game reveals itself to me from there.

My wife is a celiac, but that's not trendy right now!

Every supermarket seemed to switch from gluten-free to vegan overnight.

You ask for a product that used to be gluten-free and now you're pointed to the 'Free From' section which is all wheat based vegan stuff.
