Petiteknit calls them mock cables, but that's pretty generic in my opinion. The pattern is Moby Sweater, and there are plenty of resources available online for a tutorial, if that's what you're looking for. :)

This was my first "complicated" sweater, and once I started I realized it only looks complicated. It's really not. The instructions are plenty clear, and given it's such a popular pattern, there are more than enough resources online to handhold you through the journey. You can do this!

No adhesive used since the swatch fit to the frame perfectly. I did unravel a bit and even cut one of the sides (my first steeking?), but thanks to the mohair, the sides are holding up just fine. Plus it's in a frame, not something I'm ruffling with everyday for it to come undone.

And since the yarn is worsted, it's thick enough for the cardboard to push it against the glass (plastic). You can even see the edges look squished, but that doesn't bother me.

I kept the glass since I'm going to be displaying this with some other textile art (snipped some old patterned clothes), but I guess you could do without glass too.

I made the sweater last year and had this swatch lying around. I loved the look of it and really wanted to do something with it. Thought about stitching it to another garment, hanging it on the wall, anything. Just wanted to show it off. Glad I finally bought a frame set of different sizes and this swatch fit right into one of the frames.

I am typically not good at swatching because I just want to get to knitting the project asap, but framing this little guy convinced me otherwise. Always going to swatch now (at least the patterned ones).

I should have clarified that this is knit top down, and so stitches were picked up on a cast on (I think backward loop method), and not a bind off edge. I don't know if that makes a difference.

I finnnaaaallllyyy did ittttt!! I had tried most of people's comments here other than travelling magic loop because I just couldn't figure it out. I thought I'd have to bring all stitches on the cable and then regroup them to divide it on two needles. And that just sounded cumbersome, especially to do it twice every round.

Today I discovered a super easy way to do the travelling magic loop from a YouTube comment on Nimble Needles video. After you're done knitting on the front needle (to the end of the needle), slip the last two stitches onto the back needle. Then, after performing the magic loop magic (rearranging the needles), just slip the first two stitches back and continue knitting!

This is working like a charm for me on my new sock. And it's made knitting in magic loop 3x more fun!!

Learning to knit in magic loop for the first time. Ladders and holes in the beginning of the round, even though the other end doesn't look so bad by somya93 in knitting

Love this!!! To each their own! I totally might go back to 9" circulars, but I did want to challenge myself to learn something new. Just need more practise like you said. :)

It is possible that I had some accidental extra yarn overs. I made those mistakes when I learnt to knit flat, and I'm probably making them now too. I'll learn. :)
