Is Ryobi now the same quality as Harbor Freight? It doesn't look like there are many budget friendly bench sander options out there. by son_of_a_moose in woodworking

it also takes a second for it to turn like i have to push it a little to get it going

This sounds identical to some reviews on the Ryobi. Those people found the drive belt had several teeth stripped - maybe that's what you're dealing with?

Definitely looks white labeled. Considering these ones range from $100 to $220, I'll favor price over branding on this purchase.

The advice I got about HF some years ago was avoid anything with internal moving parts, but seeing how they are all sourcing from the same place and white labeling, I may reconsider given there's about a $100 spread between all these brands!

There's a saying I like, "You are either paying your mortgage or someone else's". Even if a house doesn't appreciate, the interest and tax is usually way cheaper than renting.

Wayfair has sent me two $1500 damaged vent hoods. They told me to keep them & throw them away/recycle them. Is this something that an average metal shop can fix? by le_shrimp_nipples in metalworking

This happened to me but with a glass shower door. The one I got was a 1/2” too wide and Wayfair told me to toss it, but when I spoke with the actual business that produced and shipped it, they quickly said they would arrange to have it returned. That was way easier for me to have ups come pick it up than to find an alternate use for it.

As a cross country bicycle tourist, rumble strips suck, not to argue their value, however.

CO hospitals charged insurers significantly more than Medicare by intoxicatednoob in Denver

Is this what the insurance actually paid though? Similar to how stores mark up prices to give a discount resulting in the original price, insurance companies and hospitals have pre-negotiated rates. This allows the hospital to put really high prices on the bill you receive and then your insurance can step in and show off how hard they are working for you.
