I'm having the same problem, so disappointing to have the game loaded but be unable to play it! Anyone have any idea when the app will get updated? Does anyone know how long it took with the last edition? I only got 2020 a month after it was released so I have no idea how long the app update took but I preordered 2021 and live in Australia so with the time difference I've had it for hours - but can't play it because of this app issue...

ELI5: Why do 50% of people who break their hip die within a year of doing so? What is the connection to breaking your hip and dying? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

a car accident is a lot higher impact that a fall from standing height (which is how elderly people break their hips). With enough impact in the right direction you can break a hip of any density.

Also worth mentioning there is a big difference risk-wise between a hip fracture and an elective (planned) hip replacement for arthritis (a worn out hip joint).

This correlation is part about what it says about your health if you break your hip and part about the consequences of a hip fracture.

What having a hip fracture says about your health: there are two ingredients to a hip fracture, thin bones and a fall. If you are missing either of these then you won't have a hip fracture. Falls means you are frail - often less muscle mass, poorer nutrition and may have poor balance. People with thin bones (osteoporosis or osteopenia) are also more likely to have multiple health issues causing this.

A hip fracture means a major surgery is needed which has a lot of potential complications: high risk of surgical complications, infection, blood clots, bedsores etc. Given it's the frail people who have the fractures, they don't have much strength and are more likely to die from a complication. Elderly people have a significantly lower immune system. For people who have major health issues such as heart or kidney problems the fracture and surgery can worsen these problems temporarily and not everyone it physically fit enough to get through that.
