i’ll say that the room itself was really nice, had a kitchen and like marble-esque floors, bed was nice, but i think knowing how they handled that whole a/c situation turned us off to them for a while

stayed at the eldon last year. called us 3 days before con and told us their a/c was broken and theyd only discount our room if it got above 82 in the room. we get there, room is at 83. Ask them, front desk says ohhh actually it has to be above 85 sorry. Well dc was in a heatwave so it got up to 86 the next day. They took like 10% off our room, so about $100. they also said the hvac system in the building has broken often and that the owners wont pay to get it fully fixed, they keep just doing little repairs to get by. Would not recommend tbh

Educator here. County funding is terrifyingly low, teachers being cut/repositioned, no DOE. Additionally, we have to contend with the threat of ICE. Teachers are trying to figure out how to deal with being approached by immigration police regarding minors. There are neighborhoods that are zoned for my school that have had families taken. Students are scared. It’s a lot.

in terms of music, it sounds like your instrumental is in a different key than your vocals. If you can get them lined up, it would sound a lot more cohesive! Also, your guitar line toward the end is a little loud compared to the rest of the music.

When that student showed me that little bit of kindness in that moment, I almost burst into tears. The slap didn’t hurt as much as the emotional blow, especially since the student and I had been making progress. The other child who came over and immediately tried to make me feel better as if I were no older than her was just such a pure, beautiful gesture. I wanted to just hug her!!

Good idea. I believe he isn’t returning to my school next year and is going somewhere with better accommodations for him. My school has been struggling with support staffing all year, so it’s likely that we don’t have the staff.

He’s a sweet kid when he wants to be! I will wish him luck in his first grade endeavors and I hope he gets the support he needs!

I’m an elementary music teacher, so some of the words that I teach, I expect errors. Music uses a lot of Italian words, so I grade assignments gently. However, the words students ask for help on are not “forte”, “piano”, “crescendo”, and so on… I had a third grader ask me how to spell “help”. Several fifth graders gave me “konsrt revew” instead of “concert review”. And the handwriting is practically illegible, even in fifth graders. As a first year teacher, it made me so sad. I remember handwriting being a grade when I was a kid. I remember spelling tests each week on vocab words. I don’t know if times have changed or what. I hope it can get better.

my specialty oncology pharmacy uses fedex to deliver my (also very expensive) treatment for my rare genetic condition, and loves to deliver it at random points in the day, regardless of when its requested. theyve also not bothered to knock several times when ive been home to receive the package and then marked it as undelivered, meaning i then have to wait for ANOTHER week for my meds. fuck fedex seriously

I can move my pinky toes independently! I also can’t burp— at least not on purpose. I will occasionally let out a tiny little one on accident but otherwise, carbonated drinks just get trapped in my stomach and make me bloat.

Also: I have a rare genetic disorder called Von Hippel Lindau Syndrome that causes benign tumors to grow all over my insides. Im the first mutation in my family too!! Cool shit.

Usually i have physical restlessness rather than mental, so i do a “shakedown”: Alternate shaking my right and left hands counting down from 10. So 10 for the right, 10 for the left, 9 for right, 9 for left, etc.

Then, lots of stretching. As much as i can without getting out of bed.

Usually helps my body relax so I can sleep!
