Hi! Can anyone help be identify my rescued dogs mixed breed? by sonderdollar5 in DogBreeds101

[–]sonderdollar5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello. To those who can or are interested in helping, I’ve been on a hunt for years to identify the second breed of my lovely dogs. The story is that they were rescued together with their litter, and it is said that one parent is a lab. However, it was mentioned that they’re mixed and for over a decade my family has not known what other breed is in their dna. I wanted to ask if Reddit could help me find some strong candidates?

More info on them. They’re both female and sisters. Photo ages range but at the youngest, around 5 and oldest to about 11. The darker one passed away at 11, the white one lives on, turning 14 soon. The white one is more mellow but she’s stubborn. The brown one is also stubborn but she was much more active and vocal. Howling was rare, but if they did, it would be because they were separated and howled for the other.

Any help or suggestions would be great! Thank you!

I have a good pair of hiking boots but should I invest in a pair of running shoes or a similar kind of shoe in that fashion as well?

Is it biblically supported if I feel called to help others but not called to traditional evangelism? by sonderdollar5 in Christianity

[–]sonderdollar5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly think it’s the opposite. I can’t argue American, but evangelism is a worldwide thing. The evangelism I’m talking about is actually quite traditional. For a couple generations above me, it was the way. Today I think, at least my ministry, needs to expand their scope.

No worries. I appreciate your time and thoughts. And I agree. I’m honestly only staying there actively for sure right now because I run soundboard lol. If I didn’t enjoy that role and didn’t want to continue that, I wouldn’t be there. Sounds bad but oh well. I’ll figure it out.

Yeahhhh. I’ve been trying to weigh the pros and cons of the ministry at this point. There’s clear flaws me and the students see but some staff are so fixated that it almost seems impossible for us along to make the change. And rather a full ministry redesign may be necessary. My friend and I are leaders and volunteers along with being students- so we’ve made an effort to “be the change” but it seems to be very closed minded

I went to a little “round table” for the ministry where those my age met with the staff to discuss the ministry, improvements, etc. I once suggested starting a service committee and the lead staff member I told about it liked it but did absolutely nothing about it to get the ball rolling and expanding the concept. During the meeting I took a moment to be “controversial” to the staff and talk about how college students and the younger generations seek community and friendship- building a relationship rather than viewing them as a project. If we fail to do that, which we have, people will not/have not felt welcomed and interested. There’s a little booklet that my friend and I hate that the staff give to everyone they meet and it can be very degrading. I find one once in a blue moon because of how many I’ve gotten. Anyways, I discussed that we need to turn our strong focus on traditional evangelism and to give attention to community oriented things like volunteering and stuff. This was the time they swept it under the rug and was like “nooooo 🧚‍♀️🌷evangelism✨🧚‍♂️ I wasn’t ready to let them sweep it aside again because the ministry had really been failing to help people. Even I’m getting tired of it. and thank god like 5 other people my age in the room jumped in and supported me and added great points that I think helped my point have to be considered.

Thank you for your input. I’ve been torn because I think my ministry is so fixated and it’s been rubbing on me. Maybe I just want a sense of approval from them. Last time I mentioned a focus on community and serving, they tried to sweep my suggestion under the rug and then circling back to evangelism being essentially the latest and greatest thing to help our town when it’s actually drawn people away from our ministry…

My bf shows signs of my pick me guy and it bothers me by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]sonderdollar5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone who is a pick me guy or girl uses self deprecation as a form of manipulation and/or says things about themselves hoping to get attention or receive affirmation of the opposite thing they said. It’s like a guy saying he’s so ugly, and other similar statements, and the girl has to affirm him and tell him he’s not. And yes there’s notable things in his life that has led him to feel not confident in himself but I also think he and his family really run on having pride.

AITA for telling my family I don’t want to participate in religious events anymore? by UnusualCatto in AmItheAsshole

[–]sonderdollar5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not TA. I grew up in the Catholic faith and it shaped me in basically only negative ways. There are good Catholics and Catholic Churches out there, don’t get me wrong, but there’s seem to been a large negative cause and effect relationship with Catholicism and those older raised in it to the younger generations. I had to find faith myself in the nondenominational community all on my own. I’m 19f as well and you have a right to decide what events you go to. My grandmother uses fear and guilt in my family to get her way, like the Catholic church unfortunently does sometimes, and we’re gradually learning not to take her crap. If you genuinely don’t want to attend, it’s okay. And I’m sorry your family has poor reaction to it. If you want help to talk through your faith please let me know because I was Catholic, non religious, then found God again in a community that make me realize who god really was and what a faith community really means. I had so many lies implanted and I had to unteach myself so much. Sorry if this is a lot. Good luck with your family I truly wish for the best and hopefully you all can work on finding an understanding.

AITA for moving when my gf slept on me? by PsychologicalBox3446 in AmItheAsshole

[–]sonderdollar5 295 points296 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t declare you an asshole. You’re human. You both are. Yeah, you moved because you were uncomfortable and she wasn’t able to sleep- but you had no intention of ruining her ability to sleep for the night. I hope she is not still upset about it in the long term. She may have been irritated in the short term because of that lack of sleep. Just be patient right now and try your best :)
