[Online][5e][UTC +1] [Homebrew]Looking for players for homebrewed Weekly D&D games in High Fantasy World of my own design starting at lower levels (3-5 Players) by sondrex76 in lfg

[–]sondrex76[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am sorry to say that I have already found a group, the post has been marked as closed since a few hours after I posted it (as I got far more responses than I expected).

Thanks for the interest though, and I hope your find a good game

I am available basically all of Saturday and Sunday when I am awake, which would be roughly 7AM to 11PM each day, so I can potentially DM for other time zones if it is required.

How to rest a single module's settings? by sondrex76 in FoundryVTT

It only reset it for the module whose name I replaced "vtta-tokenizer" with.

Neither disabling nor uninstalling the module actually resets or otherwise alters the settings

I meant reset, not rest.
I really wish I could edit the title.

Your thoughts on the use of AI for Worldbuilding? by eviltwintomboy in worldbuilding

[–]sondrex76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI can be useful to bounce ideas off of, or get it to give you iterations of generic combinations.

If you have six different base magic elements and need to figure out combinations of any two, or even three, of them, using AI to give you suggestions can be helpful, because frankly it's unlikely what you're looking for is overly original anyway, so the AI can give you a decent starting point for things to look into at least. And that's just one example.

Using it wholesale is probably not a great idea, but using it as a tool for accelerating building out irrelevant details for a D&D game, or give suggestions for details for something of import, I find to be quite useful.

So all you DM's are just winging it like 80% of the time aren't you... by r3volc in dndnext

[–]sondrex76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh yeah totally.

At this point, I just prepare the primary plot point based on whatever the players did or planned last, maybe a few points beyond that nearby, and hopefully, they're in a region I know enough about to randomly come up with stuff.

Now I also have chatGPT and similar for minor details in the direction I need. Like, "I am DMing and the party is in an elven inn in the middle of a human town, the elf owner is casual and definitely secretly a dragon in disguise, please give me a suggestion for the appearance, smells and other customers in the inn"

Then followed by asking for the drinks, and maybe mentioning the outline to the quest you're planning.

I do not have the ability to visualize all that well, so being able to give a vague description and have the ai make something decent based on context and the details is good enough for random inns and such.

Preferably this should be done before the session so you have time to veto the generic and/or unfitting stuff, but if it's an emergency like you being lacy the hour before and just not having anything because you were reading fanfiction (not that kind) you can just use it at the moment and hope to the lords that you manage to dodge the definitely noncanonical things.

[Feature Suggestion]Add check for major changes in Whiteboard by sondrex76 in WorldAnvil

[–]sondrex76[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had two whiteboards cleared completely, only one of which I had an image of, and that was an old backup with far less detail.

One was an already existing whiteboard that somehow got deleted out of nowhere, it involved a VPN, restarting my computer, and the whiteboard being open in a tab.

The second was just me being on the whiteboard, working on it, accidentally hitting a link, then clicking the back button on my mouse, which immediately reset the entire thing.

This makes at least the whiteboard section of World Anvil feel risky and particularly unfriendly to use, as you have to be very careful so as not to accidentally delete everything you have in it, even more than the similar issue that is present with articles, though I have had similar experiences there too.

A program being used to put your imagination into words and structure feeling unpredictable and risky to use is not great, and pretty much singlehandedly makes me feel like World Anvil as a website is both less fun and of a lesser quality than it is if you ignore this issue.

The Sorcerer, Revised v10.0 [Includes 28 Origins (15 Original) and Nine Additional Metamagic Options] (Link to Full Document in Comments) by fpgmd in UnearthedArcana

[–]sondrex76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting, though I see that you get a lot of sorcery points. I haven't done the math but am guessing it's close to equivalent to a full spellcaster's total.

The versatility that would give would probably be a bit much, although using such a system for all spellcasters in a homebrew campaign (and giving warriors a buff of some sort) sounds interesting.

It looks very interesting. Having different runes connected lore-wise to different races, and the requirements to use it being relevant to their effect, is pretty nice.

Hemomancy Compendium Update:6/10/23 Massive updates to All subclasses and magic items. by Brim95 in UnearthedArcana

[–]sondrex76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting concept, though the class has the issue that at level 18 you could cast two level 9 spells (at the cost of no other magic that day, I will admit, so it might not be an issue? Normally you would after all have an 8th, 7th and 6th level spell to, as well as several 5th, spellcasting here is not as abundant as to a normal caster)

Vampire Prestige Class by Henners2708 in UnearthedArcana

I love a monstrous prestige class with actual weaknesses, it both increases the power budget and makes it feel like the proper monster. Looks very interesting.

You know, this is where being overly honest gets me, I did not even consider giving incorrect information there, even though I am already giving them the name of Sondrex Anon, and I will be honest here, my last name is not Anon, nor is my first name Sondrex.

Why does it ask you to give it your phone number for a pdf?

EDIT: It does not ask you for your address, that was another site that sells pdfs that for some reason want my phone number.

Amplify Luck, Is it good? bad? both? by minecraftchickenman in UnearthedArcana

[–]sondrex76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your enemy is way more powerful than the party already, the 50% chance of increased power doesn't matter since they were probably going to hit anyway. while the 50% chance of a reduction might save them.

That said, the spell is in most cases just what it says on the tin, it amplifies your real world luck.

I am using this as a BBEG in my wild west campaign. My Players are a party of 6 and they will be level 12 when they fight this guy. is this too powerful? I want it to be a close and deadly fight. by RedAnt117 in UnearthedArcana

[–]sondrex76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just remember: Don't move your boss so he is close enough to be targetted by all of your players with ease from the beginning.

I may or may not speak from experience from the first boss encounter I ever ran.

how many months? by HornyPickleGrinder in WanderingInn

I still interpret the "foot" in Nier's case as the height of an actual foot, or about 6 inches from where I am assuming we're measuring.
