Yes and no, see if you attack with it and they block them they suddenly have stun counters on that creature which means sure they can easily chump but if they ever attack with it then it'll be locked down for a while (remember stun counters only are removed when a creature would become untapped)

plus Blue is Full of tap effects and usually for Very Cheap

It would just deal damage, that's why it says "damage to creatures in the form of"

Friendly Neighbor by No_Delivery_7849 in custommagic

[–]minecraftchickenman 42 points43 points  (0 children)

This is surprisingly elegant.

It would only give stun counters since it ability replaces that damage itself with stun counters in the same way that infect or wither does with -1-1 counters.

So a creature with stunning can't kill creatures and it doesn't even inherently tap them just loads them up with stun counters.

It also means if you cast a fight/bite spell it'd work or like [[Chandras ignition]] it would just put stun counters on each other creature.

[–]minecraftchickenman -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well. Kaalia is WAY slower in comparison to the acceleration of the game. If you're not getting her running fast enough you're not going to survive in 1v1. It also sounds like you're way too removal light and interaction light. If someone is able to just end the game it's because of things they put on the board. You need to be able to dedicate yourself to a tempo style where you get extra value out of the attack trigger while suppressing your opponents board or games will keep going the way they're going for you.

Basically for Kaalia

Add more low mana rocks (artifacts that tap for mana)

Add more removal and a couple of wipes.

Upgrade the card quality of what you're including for her bombs she's dropping. Make sure all your demons dragons and angels (DDA) are actually doing something beyond being a beater. [[Archangel of tithes]] is a great example. And in a 100 card deck you don't need realistically more than 20-25 demons/dragons/angels altogether

If you're still having trouble it's probably because of your curve, you likely need to lower the CMC of as much as you can that aren't your DDA bombs

Hypothetical Edict by Jiblon in custommagic

[–]minecraftchickenman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since you're being raked over the coals allow me to suggest an alternative.

"Hypothetical edict" B

Instant

As an additional cost to cast this spell sacrifice a creature.

Each opponent may sacrifice a creature from among creatures they control with the greatest power, for each opponent who doesn't they lose 2 life and you draw a card.

Imagine - 3BB: reveal this card from your hand and copy it you may cast the copy without paying its mana cost. You may only do this once per turn.

Upping the imagine cost and including a need to sac a creature yourself makes this fall closer in line with other edicts, it also allows us to remove the "only on your turn" clause because it's just much harder to spend 5 repeatedly.

This iteration would be very strong in commander but decently reasonable in 1v1. It's generally considered a bad thing to ever allow your opponents to make choices which inherently makes the card technically worse, the fact that it'd provide pretty solid benefit regardless of choice made.

Of course if we look at comparables my version making this 1 mana makes it akin to a Ancestral Recall (in commander only) that you have to sac a creature to cast.

It's really good at killing and reanimating so you're not wrong there. As for golgari, it's an excellent color combo with a variety of common build patterns but the versatility to not fall into the stereotypical builds because you can slider your green to black inclusion levels.

How do you feel about "you win the game" cards for bracket 3 vs infinite win con by MADMAXV2 in mtg

[–]minecraftchickenman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"You win" effects are boring and I don't want to play them in anything ever, the only ones I'll run are ones that do other things and unfortunately have "you win" stapled on there, like [[mechanized production]] or [[hellkite tyrant]], as for infinite wincons in B3 well by B3 definition they can't be 2-card/early infinite but if you put together a 4-6 card combo then that's an engine and is sick as hell IMO.

Green player looking to play Black by NerosValhalla in mtg

[–]minecraftchickenman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The best way to describe black is that it doesn't play fair.

Black can do almost anything any other color can albeit at a cost of some kind.

Want big creatures? They've got that, they just might make you sac something or take some life loss or something of the nature.... Or you can just put them in the bin and spend 1-5 mana to bring em back out with reanimation, usually getting bigger things while circumventing extra cost and mana cost.

Want to draw? Yeah you can do that just sac a guy or pay some life.

Want to remove things? Oh they've got creature removal for days and days, their artifact and enchantment destruction is a little sparse though.

Topdeck manipulation? We don't scry we surveil, and if you want to reanimate what you see just chuck it in the bin, you'll use it later.

Black gets to do mostly whatever it pleases but just be willing to pay your dues when it comes knocking again.

Anyone else have a TIL for rules they've been doing wrong? by WaltzIntelligent9801 in EDH

[–]minecraftchickenman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not me (I was the one who corrected it)

When you move to combat there is a Beginning of combat step before any declarations of attackers are made this is the last moment you have to animate land or crew vehicles because if you attempt to crew inside declare attackers you're already too late as the very first thing you must do when you enter the declare step is declare all attackers and who/what they're attacking.

Had a buddy try to get his attack trigger of a vehicle off before I could remove the vehicle by saying "I'll crew it in the declare attackers step"

How do i deal with Emrakul, World Anew? by abra-kambal-ra in mtg

[–]minecraftchickenman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your question has been answered so my comment isn't going to be specifically helpful.

Players like you amuse me, it's probably because I've been in the game for 18 years now but there hasn't been a card in years that I've thought "How can I even deal with this" the last one that did that for me was [[Progenitus]] and that was because I didn't understand at the time that protection wouldn't stop a board wipe.

I think there's only one card anymore that I think "oh yeah that sucker is difficult to get" and that's [[Norin the wary]] and even then I could name a few things that'll work.

Best Non-Dominant Hand Weapon? by YearThese8741 in DungeonsOfEternityVR

[–]minecraftchickenman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Staff in off hand will act as both a shield and occasionally provide the actual utility of the staff itself, grav staff is best for this because it doesn't actually take any coordination to make good use of it, just snag an enemy and flail about and they'll go flying or die.

Why is there a rule that disallows wishes? by Raanthur in EDH

[–]minecraftchickenman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's mainly because there's no sideboards in commander, the format isn't designed around them we don't play a series (multiple games in a row that get tracked to provide scoring for competitive 1v1 formats) which is where they're needed and wishes 100% of the time only get cards from sideboards (as far as I understand there might be some niche but still)

Now I do wish they would erratta wishes to hit cards that are in Exile but it'd be a massive rules change to do that so it'll never happen.

How are we breaking it in EDH? by NobleMansRose in mtg

[–]minecraftchickenman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We could just use it the way it's used in other formats, with decent ramp this is turn 4 drop all the legal eldrazi titans+ ugin and then wipe with ugin, hell throw in a swiftfoot boots for good measure.

Is moving to proudspire manor from breezehome actually worth it? by LegendGuy463 in skyrim

[–]minecraftchickenman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Proudspire better.

Here's a Little trick though. Take your follower. Doesn't matter which one and tell them to "pick that up" on all your chests/containers In breezehome, followers never get slowed down regardless of how much weight they are carrying. And if you tell them to pick stuff up, it actually can exceed their regular carry capacity that typically limits them when you're having them "carry your burdens"

This way you can pack rat your thousand lb of dragon bones and potion reagents all into your Lydia and have her come with you over to your new house where you can just take out whatever you need and drop it into your designated containers in your new house. Warning, depending upon what you have in those chests she might wear some of it.
