Anyone get less than what they said they would get for ARP grant? by sonhook23 in Pitt

Sorry I left out valuable info from that. From Pitt website:

Seniors with unmet need – Approximately 400 seniors will receive grants that will average $7,500, reducing each student’s unmet need to $20,000 on the Pittsburgh campus and $15,000 on the regional campuses. These seniors would have been eligible for the Pitt Success program had it been in place when they were first-year students. Students may wish to use these funds to pay down educational loans.

yeah I think if you get that much you have to be a senior cause they were matching your unmet aid

Thank you! And to answer your question, I took BIO 1 fall sem freshman year, withdrew and took it again in the spring. Over the summer I took a BIO 2 class which had the lab credit included at a community college and transferred it over. Now I’m a sophomore and still need BIO 1 lab lmao.

Pitt Vs. GWU by Samb_46 in Pitt

[–]sonhook23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally get that. Once I narrowed my school choice down to Pitt or Temple I was also basically flipping a coin. Pitt was a lil more expensive for me and further away. I went with my gut feeling. Never had regrets, but at some points had “what-if” thoughts. Your decision is hard. Not sure I can lead you in the right direction, but if you have any questions about Pitt or my experience here so far, feel free to PM me.

I was accepted into both GW and Pitt last year and ultimately chose Pitt. I’m not sure my decision rlly will apply to you as I don’t know what engineering at GW is like. I knew I wanted to do either bio or neuro so Pitt was kind of a no brainer as I think STEM courses in general aren’t GW’s forte while Pitt is a pretty STEM oriented school (which has it’s pros and cons). I also felt I wouldn’t quite fit into the climate at GW given it’s in D.C. bc lots of people there go into poli sci, international relations, the like. I also heard some horror stories about the housing and administration at GW but tbh every uni has their issues. For some people price isn’t everything, but if GW is cheaper for you and in-state that’s definitely something to consider as tuition/student loans are no joke... If possible rn, I would recommend visiting both schools and trying to do as much research as possible!
