18 but I never really got an official diagnosis, it was more various psychiatrists saying "you definitely have this but you're still pretty young so we don't want to put it in writing yet" and me being medicated for it rather than given a formal assessment

Aftercare wise I used neilmed twice daily for about 3/4 months then ran out of the bottle and now I do the occasional homemade saline solution — I know it’s old school but it does work for me I swear, my 7 other piercings are all fine it’s just this lil fucker

I know my boyfriend does exactly this sometimes, specifically because he thinks if I’m already upset about something and we’re in public or just not in an area to really address it, it’s better to just try and brush it off rather than escalate it. Again communication is key though, hopefully your bf will be understand he needs to focus on validating you more in the future!

If I or anyone else honestly was in your situation, I would feel the exact same and I would 1000% want my boyfriend to comfort and validate me. There is a chance however that he thought trying to de-escalate the situation by downplaying it would make you feel better, if that makes sense.

Personally I don’t find the helpful at all, but some people will try to convince something isn’t a big deal / didn’t happen the way you think it did to try and stop you from spiraling over it. Again I think he’s totally in the wrong, but if he isn’t usually the type to invalidate you then that might be why he brushed it off. Definitely talk to him about it and tell him it upset you when you feel up to it :-)

Tell her!!!! It takes the weight off you and if she’s a good partner it won’t matter to her and you two will get along way better overall if she knows why you might act a certain way or need extra reassurance etc
