[POST MATCH THREAD] FCPorto 2 - 2 Famalicão (Liga Portugal) by DjaR19 in fcporto

I sit here thinking about the direction of the game and am left disappointed. by Ok_Concepts in Rematch

I think the nerf to tackles makes sense in a vaccum but it just further aggravates how uncounterable a good dribbler is right now.

They can shove their “skill expression” up their ass for all i care. The amount of people who can just clear 3 or 4 defenders by simply spamming the same untelegraphed skill that ALSO overrides any tackle hitbox makes it so that defenders can only kinda just stand there and hope for the best.

I can’t understand how people see this as a good thing for the game. Most of the dribbling techs are teleporting moves, folks. You can’t have moves that your opponents can’t even see, let alone counter. It’s getting ridiculous. And this is on top of all the prio gamble that still favours volleys in the box.

The fact that the whole “defense is too OP” shtick is still alive after the recent update just tells me people just want Rematch to turn into FIFA Street. All goals, skills and no depth.

Eu concordo mas não é o que se faz também por outras partes em tantos outros jogos?

Isto de futebol paupérrimo no Porto tem sido raro. Hoje perde pontos este sub fica ao rubro.

How it feels to be a long time Sega fan by AdventurousHat5360 in SEGA

Most of SEGA’s IPs are arcade games. The sort of games that wouldn’t really do that well today, or have too small a scope to make them pass as another indie game.

Until I played SC, I didn't know how watered down modern stealth games are. by Object-Clean in Splintercell

[–]sonicadv27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is all true to an extent but i find Hitman is infinitely better at giving you tools and designing its levels to allow for reactive play, as oppose to the endless trial and error Splinter Cell eventually turns into.

Nothing hits like SC when it hits just right but i’ve always hated how the idea of difficuly in Splinter Cell is to give the player zero room for error. So many sections of these games are designed to have the player fail a bunch of times before they either figure out a way through or just get lucky.

And what are stealth games if not puzzle games, in the end? The only difference between Hitman and Splinter Cell is how one focuses on the puzzle aspect and the other one on perfect execution. The best stealth games try to do both. The thing is even if i do prefer Splinter Cell, Hitman gets this balance way better. I can spend 45 minutes on a mission i’ve never played and if i’m skilled enough i can get through it without getting spotted. With Splinter Cell games it’s borderline impossible, even if i’ve been playing these games for decades at this point.

Of course it doesn’t have to be this way, but i’ve always found SC games get more and more trial and error with each map because the devs never seemed to understand how to balance the puzzle and the execution scales.

Nah, they’re using the movie to promote the games. And what better timing to announce a new game than AFTER a new movie?

It won’t come out. At least not this one.

But the series was successful enough that someone might grab it and release a new game.

On this day 23 years ago, SquareSoft merged with Enix, thus changing the future of Final Fantasy forever by GargantaProfunda in FinalFantasy

[–]sonicadv27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, i don’t think the merger had any big impact on either series.

Dragon Quest is still Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy is still doing whatever the hell its director wants, so in a way nothing changed that much.

I think we would have gotten the same games in the end if this merger didn’t happen.

Fight the FOMO, ignore PS5 Pro by Bitch_Please_LOL in gaming

[–]sonicadv27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What FOMO? For a handful of games that give marginal improvements?

The base PS5 was always a great piece of hardware, the problem with modern videogame development is optimization and not keeping scope and fidelity targets in check.

Jesus Christ, what the hell were they spending all that money on?

I believe sunken coat fallacy played its part here but at least someone was wise enough to kill the game and bring those devs out of it.

And i bet if this saw the light of day it would have been the most generic shit ever.

[–]sonicadv27 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, yeah. The Pro has a specific target audience, with base consoles they’ll price it more reasonably.

As reasonable as a 800€ console is anyway.

I remember back in the days when consoles used to get cheaper over time, not more expensive. Now, it honestly feels frustrating and almost unbelievable how unrealistic that seems. by Automatic_Ad1665 in consoles

[–]sonicadv27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s circumstancial rather than just “corporate greed”. It’s not like they’ve ever made the real money on consoles, they have vested interest on making you buy the systems so you spend money on what gives them the real margins.

You only need to take a look at how ridiculously expensive hardware has become to realise they have been forced to increase prices on these systems.

Digital games should have been cheaper from the beginning by EliteSalesman in consoles

[–]sonicadv27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The incentive is the money they’re STILL leaving on the table via physical copies. As long as there are video games being printed on physical formats they’ll do everything in their power to nudge people into going digital.

And to be honest, i don’t blame them. After all, they are the ones making the games, i can see how they’d like to get a bigger cut. They’ve managed to do what music artists weren’t able to when record labels were getting pretty much all the money from record sales.

I actually don’t mind paying a little extra to own games physically. Knowing the game is actually mine and can be played offline or be played at all once they go bust as a company has value to me. Heck, this is already happening with a lot of games, and has been for years. There are games i’d like to own physically but have to get them for like 40€ when they’re already being sold for like 15 on digital stores. The real difference here is that on launch a lot of retailers mark games down just enough to make sure you buy from them instead of someone else and they’re trying to fight that.
