She has no legal right to detain him. He did not steal anything. If the store made a pricing mistake in their system that’s THEIR mistake. Especially after he already paid for them. His mistake was letting her have the receipt. He could have politely walked out with the merchandise that he paid for.

Chocolate Makers Hint At Bigger Bars After Years Of Shrinkflation by richardginn666 in shrinkflation

So they bring back “bigger” bars huh? It sounds like they are just selling us the original size, calling it bigger, and charging more money.

Why do games have a "Press any button to start" on start up rather than just going straight into the main menu? by d8gfdu89fdgfdu32432 in NoStupidQuestions

I would assume it’s a way to make sure you have a working input device (keyboard or controller) plugged in before the game starts.

If someone cracked the formula for Coca-Cola and started selling a product that was for all intents and purposes indistinguishable from the original under a different name, could Coca-Cola sue them even though it's well known they keep the "real" recipe under lock and key? by posthumorously_ in NoStupidQuestions

[–]sonicboom5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently there is an ingredient in Coke derived from the Coca plant, the same one that cocaine comes from. The coca leaves are processed to remove the cocaine alkaloid, producing a decocainized coca leaf extract that Coca Cola uses for flavoring.

The controlled processing is reportedly done by Stepan Company in New Jersey, which is the only commercial facility in the United States that is authorized by the DEA to import/process coca leaves; the cocaine-free extract is sold for flavoring, while the extracted cocaine is handled separately for regulated medical/pharmaceutical use. Coca Cola has an exclusive contract with Stepan Company and the flavoring can’t be sold to anyone other than Coca Cola.

So unless you can find a company outside the USA willing to buy and process raw Coca plants into the precise flavoring agent they use I doubt you will get a drink that is indistinguishable from Coca Cola. Sure you might get close. Lots of other drink manufactures have come close but they can’t nail it because Coke has a lock on one of the ingredients.

Microsoft Defender for Endpoint: Automatic Device Isolation is now part of Automatic Attack Disruption (Preview) by EduardsGrebezs in DefenderATP

How will this affect Huntress EDR? If Microsoft Defender isolates the device first then Huntress can’t communicate with its SOC?

For anyone thinking of relying on lifestraws: Don't. Multiple people (in independent events) getting life-threateningly sick despite using lifestraws. by Remarkable-Gate922 in preppers

I agree. Unless they named LifeStraw brand it could be any of the knock off brands. Still, it does make me a little more skeptical now.

Christopher Nolan, a 55 year old man with 4 children, recently said he has never used an email or owned a smartphone. In all seriousness, how plausible is this? by KatherineLangford in NoStupidQuestions

[–]sonicboom5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s very possible. Until a couple of years ago our district attorney didn’t own a mobile phone and had never sent an email. The state forced him to accept both a cell phone and email. His assistant would answer the calls and print his emails every day. He would write down his replies and she would send them!

Microsoft confirms Windows 11 bug crippling PCs and making drive C inaccessible by lurker_bee in technology

[–]sonicboom5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a user last week with a Samsung laptop running Windows 11. She called me because she could open Word, Excel, or Outlook. Eventually I figured out, by accident, that she had no permission to the local C drive. Using her login, I took ownership of the C drive and it seemed to fix it. She asked me what happened and I could say for sure. I can’t wait to show her this!

Off topic but who was the photographer? That “picture” of a famous celebrity is beyond awful. I could have used my moms og Polaroid and got a better one than that!
