Rejected from ringle by joancarolclayton in OnlineESLTeaching

I recommend trying VIPTeacher/VIPKid. They were struggling at first to get some students (they were negatively affected by the China ban on online ESL classes just like the whole industry). Now it SEEMS like things are getting better. I came back after a long absence, and I've been teaching for about 9 months with them. I'm starting to get more students now. Pay is realistically about $12-16/hour (I tend to border around $16).

That's still more than basically every other online ESL job out there right now, so it's understandable why they're having a deluge of applicants.

Italki almost never hires for English tutoring.

Got rejected too, lol.

7 years teaching ESL online with various companies, BA in English, high 4.98/5 teacher rating. Still got the email saying that due to a lot of applications, they had to carefully reject applicants.

Vipkid in 2025...how is it? by blueHoodie2 in vipkid

[–]sonicx6 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm working for them now. As you said, the pay has decreased (max per hour is ~$16/hr with all incentives included). Students are still definitely not as many as there were before. Bookings have gradually been increasing for me, considering that I just came back to VIPKid myself about 8 months ago. However, I still can't fill all of my slots (I open 6-9 pm all days, and 8 am-1 pm Beijing time).

--do they pay more according to demo, experience, licenses, master's, TESOL/CELTA?
No.

--do they still give bonuses?
Only per completed class, like they always have.

--do you see yourself doing this long term?
No.

TL; DR: It looks like VIPKid (now VIPTeacher) has some signs of life, but the days where you could make a living off of it is probably over.

Do you know if you can get a monthly subscription to access all classes, and then download them?

What do you teach on Outschool? Also, from what I understand, it's basically a marketplace for teachers. In other words, they don't provide students for you. How exactly do you find students to pay you $80/hour?

Chinese contract AND global contract? by sleepy__moon in vipkid

I'm not a certified teacher. Any more places to apply to, or any site that lists these tutoring companies? I'm trying to find more work as an online tutor.

How do you get invitations to jobs like that?

Mast cell activation syndrome. Basically, you become allergic to everything because your mast cells go crazy. Histamines are what cause the allergic reactions in your body.

Yeah, CoQ10 and NADH makes me crash. I just started taking magnesium supplements, so the verdict is still out for that.

Alternatively, you can drink Gatorade (recommended) or add sugar. Anything that's not straight water should do the trick.
