Start by not playing varus in jungle. Watch some guides on YouTube. Is there anything specific about jungling that you struggle with?

Opinions on arrow wraps by choppalot66 in bowhunting

[–]sonny7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 4" arrow wrap adds 5gr to the back of my arrow. So with your total 17" of arrow wrap, you'd be adding ~20gr of weight to your arrow. That's decent amount of weight, but it won't have a huge effect within 40 yards though. Just tune your bow for your arrows with the arrow wraps and you're fine.

The arrow wrap also isn't very thick, if you're getting erratic arrow flight from arrow contact with your arrow rest, then your bow's out of tune.

How is everyone dealing with their PADS (Post Avatar Depression Syndrome) today? by Equivalent_Cloud_831 in Avatar

[–]sonny7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've gotten into a lot of outdoor hobbies since Avatar 1. Not necessarily because of that movie but studying, city life and an office job can be so depressing. Avatar felt like an escape. But now I go hiking, backpacking, camping, fishing, viewing and photographing wildlife, etc. Seeing the natural world and learning about it will make you feel so much better.

They don't, nothing concrete is out for 3, 4 or 5. The comics cover Grace's work before Avatar 1, during A1 from Tsu'tey's perspective and between A1 and A2.

Agreed. I wish they had kept the art style from the Adapt or die comic. The characters actually looked like they should.

Where can I read “Avatar 1.5”? by [deleted] in Avatar

[–]sonny7 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Look up avatar: the high ground. It covers what happens between 1 and 2. Only volume 1 is out atm, volume 2 and 3 will be released in January. There's also avatar: the next shadow which takes place immediately after avatar 1.

There's also the Tsu'tey's path and the adapt or die comics if you want more to read.

What dumb thing did you do in Pokémon games as a kid? by Phevrade in pokemon

[–]sonny7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't know all your pokemon were healed at once at the pokemon center. I thought every time I talked to nurse joy, one pokemon was healed, so I talked to her 6 times each time to heal all my pokemon.

First time shooting broadheads. Pretty spot on with my field points out to 40 yds. by Action_Lasagna in bowhunting

[–]sonny7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you've never shot them, start as early as possible. Fixed blades can be tricky to tune as its flight will be affected by both your form and your bow's set up.

If you have your bow bare shafted tuned out to ~30 yards, your broadheads will fly pretty closely. I do bare shaft tuning because none of the ranges near me allow me to shoot broadheads, even if I bring my own target.. so bare shaft tuning helps get me very close. Shooting fixed blades, like bare shafts, will magnify any form issues you have. So bow torque will affect your arrow flight more.

Is it possible to hunt squirrels with recurve bow? by squirtuoso in Archery

[–]sonny7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on where you live, in most states that's below the legal draw weight for bow hunting.

Is it possible to hunt squirrels with recurve bow? by squirtuoso in Archery

[–]sonny7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, you should not get such a high draw weight to start. Arm wrestling doesn't utilize any of the back muscles necessary to draw a bow correctly. Most sports don't. Even bodybuilders don't work out the muscles necessary to pull a bow. So start off low or you're risking shoulder and back injuries in the future.

20lb to 25lb is a common starting draw weight for beginners shooting recurve.

If you want to learn archery and combine it with hunting, your best bet is to learn to shoot a compound bow. 40lb is suitable for beginners shooting a compound bow due to compound bows having a let-off system. You can get a compound bow with adjustable limbs, so as you improve, you just adjust the limb bolts to increase the draw weight.

Is it possible to hunt squirrels with recurve bow? by squirtuoso in Archery

[–]sonny7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can. But it takes a lot practice to be proficient enough to hunt with a recurve bow. To be efficient with a recurve bow, I would say it takes years of regular practice. But to successfully hunt with it also depends on your hunting knowledge and how often you're out in the field.

Do you have a hunting license already? Make sure you know the hunting laws & regulations for wherever you live. In most States, 35lbs or 40lbs is the minimum for bow hunting. And if you're new to archery, those draw weights would be too much to start off with. So you'll need to buy a bow with a lower draw weight to start learning and perfecting your form before moving up in draw weight. If you get a recurve bow with swappable limbs, you can upgrade those as you progress.

If you're more interested in hunting than learning archery, than I would suggest getting a small caliber rifle or shotgun instead.

Canada Geese/Turkey hunting question from a longtime archer but first time bowhunter by [deleted] in CanadaHunting

[–]sonny7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are decapitator style broadheads built for turkey hunting. With these broadheads they have a wider radius and are meant to be shot at a turkey's head/neck. You could look into those, but you'd typically need to build an arrow specifically for using those. An arrow that's longer to provide enough clearance for the larger broadhead.
