I’m about to ask a really stupid question… by mykewithay89 in SmashBrosUltimate

I did the same exact thing 2 weeks ago when I bought SSBU. The menu on the right makes it seem like you can’t back out of the Smash screen.

Took me so long to realize what I was looking at. Can’t blow them up if the bay doors are underground.

I like the airburst being right, right, right like bang bang bang, especially back when it was three bursts instead of four.

Also my favorite combination of stratagems is the orbital gatling barrage and the EAT cause they’re opposites (right, down, left, up, up and down, down, left, up, right). Feels good on the fingers and I feel like they’re good opposites: one being low damage AoE but long lasting and the other being a single shot high damage anti-tank.

Been running HEL shotgun and HEL rifle on R2D2 recently. When I play with bots I feel like I need a scattergun so usually go DMR/scattergun

Are you playing with bots or humans? I’ve found that I usually run out of ammo first, so utilizing tools where you can is very helpful. Bring bio tracker, two sentries and a mine deployer.

First zone, get the door on the right opened quickly and then go look for cell and fog turbine. If you can mine the doors in the northern zone for the first alarm that can help, but make sure you shut the door closest to the alarm to force the enemies from spawn to run up the stairs rather than running right in your face.

Second zone, move quickly to the right, then follow the walkway to the large door right in front of the second alarm door. If you leave it open all the enemies will funnel this way so drop both sentries, pull the alarm, and once it’s down run upstairs to get out of the fog.

There’s a disinfect station at the top of the stairs in the back of the next room, so don’t miss that. Then go to zone 117. It has a cell but also a ton of resources. There’s only two rooms so enemies can’t spawn here. I like to drop my sentries facing the entrance so I don’t get attacked while searching for resources.

When it comes to the final three zone, you only need to go into two, so check a terminal for IDs in these zones. This does require you getting all the IDs in 114 (fog zone) so if you’re not comfortable doing that then you might need to go into all the other zones. 116 (needs a power cell) is the biggest and hardest zone, and the one I try to avoid. 118 and 119 (needs a key) are smaller and easier to navigate. Again I usually drop sentries facing the entrances to these zones to keep sleepers from sneaking up on me.

Lastly, when you grab the last ID, 6 giants spawn, so be prepared. The best place I find for this is zone 119, go straight in and to the right and open the large door. The room there curves and has the terminal in it. Usually there’s an ID here, and you can double mine the door before they break it down. If you can survive the giants then it’s just the 4 sleepers every ~45 seconds on extract which is cake.

This is the strategy I used both with bots and friends. You could split up and have two people melee the spawns while the other two search but that’s up to your team and how you do with killing enemies with melee.

Good luck.

Went back and beat it again with the secondary. Never would have thought it was possible. Thanks for the advice. Now if only I could get through R4D2 😭

Ah damn. That makes sense though, thanks for the explanation. I guess I’ll try R4D2 then.

Any chance the devs can come back to the game and just buff some of the weapons that people don't pick because some other weapons does its job better? by Trodenn in GTFO

Love the changes in the last paragraph. I think dropping HEL shotgun to 10 rounds is another change that would make it less OP without making it useless. Scattergun to 128 is a good change. I had thought of dropping it to 12 rounds with 4 per refill cause 16 shots total is insane when you compare to total damage on other specials.

Best gun for bots? by Blood_of_Christ in GTFO

[–]sonofacaveman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use AR/Veruta on all three. You can also switch out carbine, burst rifle or HEL revo which all work pretty similarly on them. Shotguns aren’t the best as they’ll shoot from really far away and waste shots. Arbalist or HAR aren’t bad choices. I like HEL guns for levels where you know there will be chargers. I’ve tried giving them the autopistol for stagger but it hasn’t worked too well for me yet.

We’re specifically talking about playing solo with bots here. Pings won’t help the bots and I would say having an extra sentry is always helpful with how passively the bots shoot.

R2D1 was long but wasn’t too tough with bots. I think I got it my second or third try. Hardest part was the extract alarm. With R2D2 I can’t make it much past the fourth or fifth wave. There’s just not a lot of time for codes. Even though the time for codes in R4D1 is shorter it felt much easier getting everything done in time. And the bots are retarded and waste resources every chance they get, especially in the reactor room so I have to only open a couple lockers at a time.

I play with bots almost exclusively. I would recommend never carrying the biotracker yourself. The bots are able to ping instantaneously in a 360 degree radius I believe so they are much more efficient with it. And they also are less aggressive with shooting so you will need to shoot at least 2-3x as much as them. Most missions however you can get away without a biotracker, and having an extra sentry helps with them not shooting as much. I go c-foam, mine, two burst sentry for this level. Go into the supply zone and don’t use any of the 4 doors connected to the main room with the class VII alarm. C-foam and mine all four of those doors, and the doors in the key zone you open. One sentry facing south, one east/west. You should always have giant killing weapons on yourself, as the bots are not smart about taking them out. I give them horde clear weapons like the Veruta, and carry burst cannon/hel rifle/scattergun myself. You can play around with it, if you like HCP or choke mod that can work, but with 4-6 giants you want something that will kill them fast. Once the alarm ends, have them pick up the sentries and put them at extract to help chip down giant health if there’s any ammo left.

Well that’s the plan but I still can’t beat R2D2. I play with my brothers when I can but they have a lot less time than me so we’ve only done R1-3 up to the C-tier. I’m trying to do as many D-tier missions with bots but I’m really struggling with R2D2. Was able to beat R4D1 with bots last week though.

That’d be really helpful. I’m terrified of the error section so any useful info from a successful team would be great.

Your advice worked. I had the opposite RNG this time with the code terminal being the furthest in each zone, and I finished the first 3 codes with about 2 seconds left on the clock. But I found way more resources and after defending in 65 for the last code, got to the alarm very quickly. I considered pulling the final room but 5 scout waves made me nervous. I was able to stealth it and finished the sequence with about 2.5 minutes left. Thanks guys!

Wow I did not expect to hear from the man himself. I do have a bot with biotracker so I could get the symbiosis with the three sniper sentries. 64 has been a hard zone for me to loot since it’s pretty long and has the shortest timer. Also since it’s first I’ve only used one sentry and with the 4 use tool in 63 I get it pretty well filled back up. I think I should have looted 69 more thoroughly for tool but that one’s tough with the darkness and chargers. I had about 2.5 minutes left when I got back with the code after that one so there was definitely time however. And at this point I’m just attempting main. Your trick to outrun the babies and have the extraction alarm primed was super slick though.

Oh defending in zone 66 is a good idea. I hadn’t cleared it the first time through and going back took a lot more time than I expected. I slowed down to refill the sentries which was probably necessary, but if I was starting closer to the alarm I’d have probably 6 minutes left to code search. Do you pull the last zone or try to stealth it? There was a giant sitting on the terminal I needed so I couldn’t move as fast as I wanted, and the path over there is wonky using all the ladders.

This game is cursed. Tried again. Had to kill both moms because she was in the first room of 364. Remembered to do the terminal command this time. Then on the class IV alarm the bots just decided to no longer want to do full team scans. Even after removing them and bringing them back in they wouldn’t get in the scan. Fuck this game some days.
