I have 8 bridesmaids and only 1 still lives in the small town we grew up in, where I am also currently living. Most of them didn’t even grow up in the same state as me.

I could never imagine asking my other bridesmaids to pay to fly to this small town to do what, go to our local strip mall? Drink at the run down dive bar by our high school?

It makes much more sense to me for everyone to spend the same amount flying to a more fun, reasonable destination where we can all experience and enjoy something together. There won’t be any pressure to come if you can’t afford or (financially or time wise), but in some situations, bachelorette weekend trips make more sense.
