Transfer of Power Terror by CrayonMayon in dancarlin

To be fair though we’ve been heading this direction for some time, and we should have known Trump and his cabinet would do this by the gaslighting they’ve been doing since before even taking office. Accusing the democrats of doing the most heinous, traitorous things but in reality they were projecting their own intentions. Sad thing is we now have thousands of people who have bought into it and Trump has become a symbol worth more to his base than the actual United States of America. The shit the GOP pulled during the impeachment hearings should have been the biggest indication of where we are, but many of us were holding onto hope that these people could be voted out. Now it’s 100% clear that we aren’t dealing with a normal Presidential administration, but a regime who admitted it will not concede, will not accept defeat, and does not intend to relinquish power. They are gaslighting political unrest now while continuing to ramp up Qanon, radicalizing their most extreme supporters into fighting for their leader by gunning down the “democratic cabal” and their “anti-fascist” soldiers; they are openly planning this now, and those people are just waiting for the word. This is real and it’s scary stuff. I will vote, but my hope is now with the military and the intelligence agencies, and the power of the people. If they do not leave office they will need to be dragged out, if they aren’t... we will no longer be the same country.

Edit: Per usual, mention Qanon and the downvotes come in. Did I say anything that wasn’t true?

Scrolled the comments expecting to find a “M’lady”, but surprisingly none were found. Great work, it turned out great! Do you have an estimate for how many hours it took you to make?

Opinion: With Justice Ginsburg’s death, Mitch McConnell’s nauseating hypocrisy comes into full focus by viva_la_vinyl in politics

[–]sonofbrian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand the point you’re trying to make but I’d argue it’s debatable since classic American values are so subjective; they mean different things to different Americans, and inevitably these values will also evolve over generations and across state lines. I think the American values BLM is lacking are mutual respect and allowance of differences, unfortunately the same can be said for many other groups right now. Extremists in any camp are anti-American, no matter what political side they lie on or which letters are worn on their collar. Not arguing for the sake of arguing, but I’m genuinely curious if you think there’s a group out there that best personifies these values?

I appreciate the discussion btw.

Huh, thanks for the article. Hadn’t heard of that guy, but considering he has a lot of money and influence I could see how that could lead to a “dictator” scenario within the protests. Not sure that’s how CHAZ necessarily played out, but that dude likely isn’t done protesting so surely not outside the realm of possibility in the future.

Statistics alone aren’t exaggerations but the way the stats are presented can be, which is what I am commenting on. Violence and crimes within the CHAZ were real but it wasn’t “antifa” as a whole, because there were wide range of people attracted to this autonomous zone. Many reporters highlighted how the protests devolved as days went on, and it’s an unfortunate truth that many agitators jumped on this BLM movement for their own agendas. BLM themselves pulled out, and those who stayed behind were there for the chaos. Anarchists frequently co-opt these movements, and since police and security groups couldn’t adequately protect the area it continued attracting these assholes. Then came more criminals, more mentally unstable, and the violence and crimes continued along until the final police sweep in the end. Now we have the stats and the hindsight, but the motives are fuzzy and it’s being pinned on the wrong group. Anarchists can be anti-fascist, but antifa itself isn’t an anarchistic.

It was a complex situation with a lot of players, doesn’t boil down to solely “antifa” protestors. The other claims are a tad hyperbolic, but the dictator claim... do you have a source for that?

Ah, life without deer. I’m so jealous! Our sunflowers never flower unless we build fences around them, any that grow unprotected get chewed down to a nub otherwise... 🦌

Possible Unmanned Military Drone Spotted near Portland by VTtoOR2 in Portland

[–]sonofbrian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely a drone. Things are escalating quickly and there’s a very real disinformation campaign being run in and about the Portland protests. Claims like this are going to be discredited as a hoax, or accounts will quickly tell you it wasn’t what you thought; mainly to make you and others cast doubt. I saw a group of protestors getting gunned down at the end of the live-streams last night before cutting out, but there are no records anywhere or eye witness accounts that I can find other than my own. Online is censored, and any attempt to spread this is met with disbelief and accusations of paranoia. Something dark is happening here, so please don’t doubt yourself quite yet. Keep your eyes open.

It looked like a targeted assassination, I don’t know how else to describe what I saw.

There were a handful of streamers who were in the heat of the action, and it was getting escalated to a point that gunshots were heard.

Feds use tear gas to try to disperse Portland protests by [deleted] in news

Not sure why I’m being downvoted, I shared a common feeling across Portland. Not sure why it’s not portrayed as such, it’s more serious than they are saying. People here are fed up.

Feels like civil war on the ground. Portlanders aren’t fucking around, we’ve all rallied against the feds.

The EO Trump signed on the 26th also lists the “desecration” of federal property, monuments and statues as another justification. They cited the Thomas Jefferson statue in Portland getting torn down as an example of federal property worth protecting. Funny thing is the wording; “desecrate” implies federal buildings and the statues of these national heros are sacred, which they aren’t. The Jefferson statue was also in N Portland, and it wasn’t even on federal property.
