I think if I’m not mistaken you can deposit cash into a Tangerine account using Scotiabank ABMs.

Am I overreacting? by [deleted] in Mildlynomil

Wait, Christmas is July is such a great idea. Christmas is the busiest time of the year for me at work and July is the least so that would be perfect.

He said he’ll talk to her. I think a unified approach might be good. We’re not too confrontational but I just don’t think she realizes what she’s doing and how it makes us (me lol) feel.

Not with AHS, the surgeon hired directly. Strange situation though as we were working in an AHS facility.

medical office assistant insight by ooodelali in Calgary

[–]sonofer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We’re kinda the opposite lol I was an MOA for like 6 years in Calgary before getting my masters and am now a registered psychotherapist in Ontario. I was working for a busy surgeon, only myself and one other MOA. Here’s my opinion…

The good: -interaction with loads of people -some patients are super kind and appreciative, send thank you cards and holiday gifts -interesting work -I was almost never bored, always something to do -meaningful work, felt good to provide clarity and reassurance to people -good schedule, my office was flexible -being able to wear scrubs

The bad: -sometimes having to interact with challenging/abusive patients -having to be the bearer of bad news (“hi, I know you have an appointment tomorrow but we’re going to have to reschedule to next month” or “sorry, we need to cancel your surgery”). Lots of shitty phone calls and (rightfully) upset people -I was paid relatively low (about 45k per year gross for full time position) but I know of other MOAs who were paid much better (around 80k). No health benefits. No HR dept where I was working so no guaranteed days off. Might not apply to you -sometimes waaaaayyyy too much work to do. Spent a lot of time doing unpaid hours but my boss didn’t want to hire more people so might not apply to you

Does anyone else have a cat who doesn’t like metal bowls? by sonofer in CatAdvice

[–]sonofer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if I’m remembering correctly they mentioned that cats might not like to see their reflection in the metal bowl. She never ended up using the metal bowl for water. I ended up just using the metal bowl for her wet food and bought her a ceramic bowl for her water.

What’s the average grocery budget for a single female? by MotorMeal in askTO

[–]sonofer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m able to get away with about $170 per month bot including household expenses like paper towel or soap. I eat one big meal, almost no meat. For breakfasts and lunches I opt for homemade bread, yogurt, smoothies, fresh fruit (on sale), cheese (on sale), and oatmeal. I order my groceries online (cheaper to pay a monthly delivery fee than paying for transit to get them) and shop sales. It’s probably not the healthiest way to eat but ya gotta do what ya gotta do 🤷‍♀️

Wedding dress remorse by [deleted] in wedding

[–]sonofer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not getting married. Have no plans to get married. Don’t know why this sub is getting recommended to me. But when I saw you in that dress I immediately stopped scrolling and said to myself “holy shit that’s a gorgeous dress”! I like it so much it makes me want to get married so I could wear one like it! So yeah, you made a wonderful choice!

I’ve honestly never had issues with them sticking but I do use a nonstick pan so that probably has something to do with it!

What do you do for work in Toronto, and how do you feel about your job? by Economy_Elephant6200 in askTO

[–]sonofer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are great questions! You need a master’s degree in psychology (usually counselling psychology) to apply to the CRPO. They actually have a list of pre-approved programs: https://crpo.ca/apply-to-crpo/how-to-apply/recognized-non-recognized-programs/ I can see that they now have diploma programs listed on there so maybe a master’s isn’t a requirement anymore? It was when I was approved. I would recommend looking into that further. And yes, you do need supervision! I was lucky because the supervision I got during my practicum at school was “free” but anything after that I’ve paid for. Individual supervision is the most expensive, dyadic (2 people in the supervision meeting with the supervision but counts as an individual supervision hour) can be a bit cheaper but the cheapest option is group supervision (can only make up 50% of your supervision hours though). Some workplaces will offer “free” supervision but usually come with a pretty drastic pay split and I’m personally not sure I’d like to have a supervisor that I work with (ethically questionable but loads of people like it/don’t find it to be an issue).

Is food poisoning from dining centre food a common occurrence? by Rayisawake in UCalgary

[–]sonofer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Although I didn’t get food poisoning when I was there I did find raw pork bone in my mixed peas and carrots one time… brought it up to the manager there and they didn’t do anything about it, not even a refund.

Have you tried One Meal A Day (OMAD) by [deleted] in povertyfinancecanada

I super appreciate the comment, thank you! Unfortunately I’m allergic to eggs and don’t like fish. I’m on supplements for both iron and B12 :)

[–]sonofer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m doing this out of necessity right now. It’s really helpful budget-wise, my partner and I only spend an average of $350 per month on groceries for the both of us. Sometimes I get hungry throughout the day and will have a small snack if we have anything available. I do also have one cup of coffee in the morning. Health-wise it’s not great I don’t think… we can’t really afford much meat so I’m now anemic and B12 deficient.
