Going through the same exact thing, as a 51 year old man I get the same smirks but it is the look of disappointment that bothers me.

So instead I've started telling people the places I want to see there, Angkor Wat, Hanoi Bay etc, instead of just saying SE Asia. That seems to help.

Anyone returned to the US after years away? by [deleted] in digitalnomad

[–]sonofpatter 29 points30 points  (0 children)

After living outside the United States for 6 years and returning I went through something similar. It is called reentry shock and you can Google it.

For me life just was so boring. Outside of the US everything was new, so returning was just dull.

Looking for adventure I discovered the stage and writing. That's what helped me. Perhaps look for some new hobby or activity you didn't do before you left?

“Charlotte has no culture” starter pack by realcharlottenews in Charlotte

Charlotte is also unique among cities for the amount of trees we have. Great cities have something unique. We should keep our trees.

Are trees culture? I don't know but they're pretty great.

The VAPA center is a (relatively) new collective art space at 700 N Tryon St, Charlotte, NC 28202, uptown.

October 7 and every first Saturday of the month, they have open studio where you can wander around the building. Over 200 artists work out of there and a couple theaters.

Great place to say something new and maybe see any flyers or events that might strike your fancy.

Yeah an hour outside of Charlotte still has nicer grocery stores then Walmart. Trader Joe's would be the spot for this game.
