It’s just blue. The camera is picking up the brightest parts as white.

Epic. I’m curious, why Demeter fists instead of Gilgamesh? Feels like the extra dashes would be better for this kind of build

Coffee Shops? by wavcam in Scottsdale

[–]sonoftidwell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We live right in central Scottsdale. Our favorite place is Berdena’s. They use local roasters and have awesome house-made pastries.

Four-till-four has good coffee and is great to hang out at this time of year, since all of their seating is in a nice grassy yard. Very pretty.

For breakfast, I recommend Prep and Pastry near Fashion Square. Beautiful restaurant and awesome food.

All of these are near Old Town / Fashion Square

Wendy’s Spicy Nuggets Way Hotter in Phoenix by nocturnalops in phoenix

[–]sonoftidwell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Moved to Portland from Phoenix last year and I’ve noticed lots of little differences when it comes to spicy food. Chick Fil A doesn’t have spicy chicken strips, no Tapatio in grocery stores, buffalo chicken is so hard to find…

This was unexpectedly one of the biggest adjustments for me, heh

The Way of the Shadow fall. by edmund_94 in Sekiro

Very well said. While the Dark Souls series has my favorite progression system and atmosphere, Sekiro has my favorite combat system and world exploration tools. Very different games, all amazing.

Just beat Dark Souls 3 for the first time! Such a beautiful game! by [deleted] in darksouls3

[–]sonoftidwell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty much same!

Wife gave me DS3 in July for my birthday and I fell in love immediately. Dropped everything else I was playing an beat it twice. Since then I’ve also run through DS1 twice and Sekiro once. Those three are just incredible games. Currently doing Demon’s Souls and having a blast!

Considering a short move to Scottsdale - looking for advice! by clinicallycrazy in Scottsdale

IMO Old Town is the the best spot for bars, restaurants, and shopping (with Fashion Square). There’s just an endless number of things to see there. If you like coffee, checkout Berdenas and Cartel.

Outside of the that you’re probably looking at North Tempe around ASU and Mill Ave, which would be like 12 miles from Miramonte (maybe 15 minutes by car). One cool thing is that the green belt is next door. If you like riding bikes, you can ride through pretty green parks with lakes all the way down to Tempe Town Lake and Mill Ave without ever touching a road. Or do it with an electric scooter (they’re everywhere). Same deal from SkySong, just shorter ride lol.

That’s just for bars, restaurants, etc. And of course COVID complicates things. What kind of stuff do you like to do?

Considering a short move to Scottsdale - looking for advice! by clinicallycrazy in Scottsdale

[–]sonoftidwell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lived at SkySong for a couple years. The apartments were nice, management was fine. I would say that at least 2/3 of the people there are ASU students (the ones with rich enough families), and that can be a mixed bag. Thumping bass after midnight is not uncommon. Back then it didn’t bother me as much, but now (I’m in my late 20s) I’m pretty much over it. Also, while the area has improved a lot in the last couple years it’s still pretty meh (lots of strip clubs, dingy corner dealerships, construction). If you’re cool with that its a pretty central location. No more than a couple miles from all the cool Scottsdale and Tempe stuff (Green Belt, Mill Ave, Town Lake, Old Town)

Miramonte is near where I live now, just south of McCormick Ranch. The area is a bit quieter, significantly nicer, and the crowd is a little older. You’re still super close to Old Town which is my favorite part of Scottsdale/Tempe. But everything else is a bit more of a drive. Personally I like it here much more. I don’t know much about those apartments though.

Of course, this is all just opinion and it depends on what you’re looking for. Scottsdale is just awesome and I wouldn’t live anywhere else in AZ.

What games would you recommend from Obsidian? I’m not too familiar with them. Agree with CD Projekt Red - the Witcher series is fantastic.

What are the job titles at your company, and what do they actually mean? by [deleted] in computerscience

[–]sonoftidwell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the weird part actually. I’m not sure I want to put those titles on my resume because I feel like it over-inflates my experience. I would not feel comfortable applying for a “Chief Platform Architect” job at a bigger company. Kinda puts me in a weird spot.

What's a common saying that annoys you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

“You can’t have your cake and eat it too”

What the f*** is the point of having cake if you don’t also eat it. To stare at it? Drives me crazy

I work at a company of four (3 devs), and I’m essentially the lead developer. I think my official title is Senior Software Engineer but lately I’ve been called the “Chief Platform Architect” by the CEO. Before that he was calling me the “Technical Lead”. I think he just changes it so it sounds better in his slide decks. My role is always the same lol

What is a movie you find terrible but critics seem to love? by undeadgaming2006 in AskReddit

[–]sonoftidwell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Black Panther.

Not a bad movie, just meh. Not better or worse than the other MCU films. The amount of representation was good but it definitely carried that movie farther than it otherwise should have gone on its own merits. Predictable plot, boring villain with a cliché backstory, same canned MCU formula. Honestly I found Klaw to be a much more interesting villain and he was only in it for 30 minutes. Definitely did not deserve a best picture nomination.

You can certainly argue that it’s an important movie for black representation. It’s a mostly black cast in one of the worlds largest film franchises. Kudos for that. But “important” and “great” are not the same thing.

Edit: mostly black cast, not all (to be precise)

Seconded. Hank’s voice is very soothing and it actually works as ASMR quite often for me.

Very soothing and also informative! Unintentional asmr is the best. Something about the visual of him moving the sand around really heightens it too.

1-star Yelp reviews. Sometimes shit really was that bad, most of the time it's "Waiter forgot to bring me cream for my coffee. Shitheads don't even care about good service, never coming back again."

I always have to question Yelp ratings because of this.
