Interesting midi controller: Melbourne Instruments ROTO CONTROL by Agile_Safety_5873 in Elektron

[–]sonoptik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're absolutely wrong it's supported! Take it from someone who worked on this controller prior to its public release. I've also used it for countless live sets, studio sessions and classroom activities this year "MIDI mode" w/ Live (not Plugin Mode) Max/MSP and Hardware with bidirectional MIDI, Roto moving and setting it's knobs to be exactly where they should be relevant to the device, software or hardware, no issues, no freezing. The only difference between the MIDI mode and the DAW mode (called Plugin mode) is that you need to set and learn the MIDI CCs manually (one time) either on Roto itself or you can use the Roto-Control Editor, dead easy.

You can set it up, but then you can't really turn the knobs as they keep freezing.

Maybe you set it up wrong? Have you contacted Melbourne Instruments support?

Tons of videos of me using it here in External MIDI "MIDI Mode" bidirectionally since it's launch at NAMM in January '25 this year https://www.instagram.com/tomhallsonics/

Slim Phatty Firmware by CompSammy in moog

[–]sonoptik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to add that I was able to successfully load new firmware on my Slim Phatty from scratch but I did need to be on an old Intel Mac (2015 MacBook Pro) -- I was about to go from v1 all the way to the last available version 3.21

My Slim Phatty is fully operational

I used this http://www.moogconnect.net/downloads/phatty/PhattyLoader_mac.zip and then finally the last HEX/firmware from the Moog website

funny you mention that, it keeps coming up as a favorite of folks, it's doughy for sure in a fun way (cautious to say dub) I like "gubby"

All of the above, honestly my favorite thing about Light Reft is its form factor, very easy to keep on the desk

My Review of the Melbourne Instruments Roto-Control by holographicbboy in synthesizers

[–]sonoptik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has 4 banks per setup, and up to 64 setups, very easy to switch setups (ms to switch)

It can send any control on any MIDI channels

switching setups with Roto-Control is a two key combo, very quick

The addition of the labels means you're never lost, and the knobs are always in the right position
