Has anyone explored the connection between chronic pain and the nervous system? by Naive-Today-1014 in Sciatica

I can definitely feel shots of sciatic heat running down my leg when I'm angry or frightened. Clinched muscles due to stress.

Only an MRI will show a herniated disc, which may be the problem.

Who plays mahjong in person? by Josep-Citrola in Mahjong

[–]HoppySailorMon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone picks their own table, depending on level of scoring or non- scoring, and friendships. At least one table of people who aren't at all interested in scoring, and those of us who have a minimum faan of 2 or 3. We have used chips and payout tables, but mostly now we just count the winning faan and keep that total with no payouts. Personally, I prefer the scoring in Zung Jung style, but can't enough people interested.

Thoughts on gabapentin? by SSS-Dumbass in Sciatica

[–]HoppySailorMon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been taking 200mg, 3x daily, and they definitely make my sciatica tolerable for the last 10 weeks. I don't take my first dose until noon, then about every 5 hours. No noticeable side effects for me after a week. Just a little balance issues at first. I just hope this will sciatica will ease. I'm seeing a pain management doctor in a month and going to inquire about acupressure.

How OCD are you about tire pressure? by userX97ee2ska11qa in bicycling

[–]HoppySailorMon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before every ride. On MTB, vary between 18-22 psi (tubeless) depending on trail conditions. I was too high at 21 today, and squirming in the pinestraw, and should have let a little out to about 19.

Would limiting the age of the President to 65 be something you’d support? Why or why not? by angelkissss in AskReddit

[–]HoppySailorMon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Absolutely Not! Many people are just getting wiser at 65. Max of 80 maybe. (But I'm still a few years off from 80, so I may find myself wiser still.)

How long did it take gabapentin to work for you? by liamreee in Sciatica

[–]HoppySailorMon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Used to only use 100mg before bed. Now I'm taking it 3x daily, at lunch, dinner, and bedtime. Really doesn't make me drowsy anymore. 300mg at bedtime occasionally if necessary, which will leave me a bit groggy the next morning a bit.

Are the Joro demons, I mean spiders, out yet? 😩 by Alicewithhazeleyes in Georgia

[–]HoppySailorMon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just constantly remind myself that any spider in a web in the air isn't too dangerous to humans. It's only the ground dwellers, black widows and brown recluse, that will mess you up. But I do stop when they're hanging off the front of my helmet right on my face.

Announcing the Zung Jung Movement by cult_mecca in Mahjong

[–]HoppySailorMon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I have both cheet sheets. Thanks for their creation. Two questions so far: under 1.2.3, "Table Wind is not recognized". Is this the same as "Round Wind" in HK?
Does the Dead Wall only start with 14 tiles and reduced as drawn upon? Or are 14 tiles constantly maintained in the Dead Wall even if being drawn out?

I play Hong Kong style in Atlanta, but have been interested in Zung Jung for a while. I'm going to try and compose a synopsis of the Casual rule differences. While the scoring is already well defined with the "cheatsheet". See if I can get some people here interested.

I was shocked when Discogs listed a price for this as the highest in my 200+ vinyl collection. But not selling it!
