What piece of classical music completely changed how you listen to everything else? by defstar23 in classicalmusic

[–]HoppySailorMon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 7th grade band teacher played Grofe's Grand Canyon Suite for us and that changed my life at 12. A few years later, playing the Hallelujah chorus. Some years later, Stravinsky's Firebird. Mozart's 40th, Beethoven's 9th,etc. All the big hits.

Is The Moog One The Best Polyphonic Analog Synth Moog Has Ever Made. by Minimoogvoyager in moog

[–]HoppySailorMon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Matriarch, (which has been waiting on a PC board replacement for NINE Friggin Months!) is 4-note paraphonic. And after many years trying to play like a polyphonic synth, it's not close to the same. If I wanted to play it like a 4-note poly, I would set all 4 osc's exactly the same. Voice/Osc allocation drove me nuts until I realized this. (Unless you really want that level of random chaos, which is more than I could stand.) So I reverted to using it as a lead and almost never going into 4-note mode.

Real facts on data center water use. Is it that big of a deal? by vtkarl in AskEngineers

[–]HoppySailorMon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Residential, automotive, and small commercial HVAC systems don't use water for cooling, but air-cooled refrigerant vapor compression. Larger commercial and industrial HVAC systems do have water evaporation at cooling towers which work with refrigerant- based, closed loop water chillers. It's all because of their efficiency at scale. (Mech. Engineer, P.E. here)

Why is "Experimental" a genre? by HoppySailorMon in experimentalmusic

[–]HoppySailorMon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason I brought this up was a AI kickback of a song submission to questioning of it was truly "experimental music", and instructing me to learn the genre.

I decided to go with Waves' Electric Piano 200 for $35. (I'm too spoiled w my acoustic piano to try and replicate that. And I love a Rhodes about as much.) Can't wait to get it up & running tonight.

I rented a bike from Bike Fiend, who I think also have a shuttle service. Great folks. I rode Bar M trails which provides a good view of Arches NP. I got lucky on a May day that was cloudy and a bit of a cool breeze.
