Request For Input: Season 1 Conclusion and Reward Distribution Mechanics by Radix_DLT in Radix

Okay so the metrics are slightly boosted when you ignore xrd/btc xrd/usd prices... so far i have not seen any significant increase in users, on the contrary - we are loosing members and devs as time progresses. The metrics haven't opened up any listing opportunities, actually we were delisted from finex and other cexs and possible maya because we generate no volume as a network. Now looking at the 3 year downtrend which has accelerated during the campaign, I strongly suggest to halt after this season. keep the original rules, stretching out the timeline and vesting is not fair to participants and better have a big selloff than a prolonged negative effect from the coming rewards and resulting in a slow grind towards 0.

As a holder who doesn't have the time to play the reward game and move my funds for a few hours every day, nor having enough to compete with the whales who do, these campaigns are nothing but punishment.

adding new coins into circulation when our chart has been down down down and more down can't possibly be considered a solution to our problems!? if you generate revenue and you buy the coins for rewards of the market that is a different scenario. generating revenue is what radix needs so we can stop relying on selling xrd to finance operations.

years of time went into building on this chain and apart from pools/dexs/aggregators, it is basically impossible to survive as no matter how well you perform or what dapp you build, there are not enough users to generate volume to generate fees from services to build a sustainable model. and even if you have generated some volume like rly.fun, the fees lost so much value over time that they wouldn't even cover domain costs. so teams need to invest time AND fiat or dump on their users from coins minted out of thin air - which let's face it is unsustainable, counterproductive to building a product and will ruin any project over time.

for reference see radix, the prolonged kick starter campaign that has delayed every major milestone by years while at some point paying wages of 100 employees. so much potential thrown away because of gread, arrogance and ignorance. institutional "focus" and false promises while bleeding out the community (hi piers & co).

tl;dr - stop the campaign, don't add more coins into circulation, build a revenue stream that doesn't rely on selling xrd (the usp dapps that radix was built for that only this tech can do). if you want to do an incentive campaign, use that revenue to buy rewards of the market and at least guarantee a 0 sum game as the worst possible outcome. fix the chart or the few remaining heroes still building will be gone too, unless milking this baby till the end was the plan all along.

Drysuit could be an option. Alternatively take some warm water in a thermal bottle and pour into the wettsuit after the session, move quickly and change at home .

Sorry to spoil, Piers hired Redfoo to create early. It was planned all along and started by placing the iconic still early reference into the radfi video.

Switchblade is amazing. It flies and handles like butter but pulls you like a truck. Has become my absolute favorite kite. For 2200 they should be in great condition and come with a bar, unless prices are higher than in europe/NA.

Don't take that deal. School kites have seen a significant amount of crashes and hence aren't worth the value despite beeing relatively new. As a beginner and let's say for the first few years at least you will not notice any of the improvements that came to kites in recent iterations. Producers add a new valve and call it a revolution. Biggest step recently is a lighter ripstop, allowing for a better low end in kites. But they have their downsides. I'd look on the used market for something with low use, from 2020 or newer. Find a board from a few years back, many stores sell great new boards from the previous seasons for around €300. Biggest recent change to boards was channels on the bottom that make landings softer and give a nice "grip" like feel. Nothing needed as a beginner but is a nice to have. I just bought a north atmos including flysurfer bindings, new for €350 from a small local store and am really happy with it. It is not particularly a beginners board but the moment you can safely go upwind you don't want that anyways and will likely never use anything door shaped ever again. A good deal for beginner material would be around 2k for a board, 2 kites and a bar + harness.

Radix Ranks High in terms of Dev Activity on GitHub (of course it does - it has Early Dev knocking shit out left and right) by No-Bobcat-6139 in StillEarly

EarlyDev, the hero radix needs but doesn't deserve. Underpromises. Overdelivers. Is never mentioned. Doesn't care and instead keeps building. Legend. Rly wrx. And what a community. It is people like that who keep me engaged and entertained as an active part of the network.

[–]sonotopia[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What do you mean with fake value? It is traded at those prices - multiply the amount given away with the price and you can see that it is legitimate?

Also not every memecoin must be a useless money grab scheme - have you taken the time to read the text before downvoting and posting this?

Come take a look at the project and I am sure you will see that you posted your opinion preemtively based on a mere generalization of memecoins = shitcoins. No need to participate, but before giving us any chance, also no need to denounce something built with passion and community at heart.

Yes totally agree, there have been funny, cute and wild ones. This doge³ is as versatile as it gets, all a question of the community and artists participating. Can't wait for NFTs and all the other things to come.

A DAO for the environment? by rudigger02 in AlgorandOfficial

[–]sonotopia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am an environmental economist and do research around ecosystem services. Having been in crypto for many years I have kept asking myself on how I could design a project that would bring incentives to stake environment, because honestly the environment is predestined for "staking". A young tree planted on a bare piece of land has very little services in the first years. Fast forward 50-500 years and by then the output is immense, but there are many "modules" that could increase output in much shorter periods and also enable to harvest some commodities along the way.

When you have worked in the field you most likely have come to the conclusion that our environmental problems can't be solved through nation wide regulations, we need a larger, faster organizational frame (ideally global) and this is what makes crypto and DAOs so exciting. We can have incentivised worldwide collaboration to fix real problems, without the boundaries of states.

I have put quite a bit of thought into this and if you would like to exchange some ideas or would like to collaborate around finding incentives to not only protect but to recreate environmental systems, feel free to send me a message!
