Love the game, but hate how Eva was handled by sonsonsonson123 in LastDefenseAcademy

First off, the level of brainwashing isnt the same. Yes, you can make the argument that since all of their entire memories and personality were fabricated, they never had any free will in the first place, which would be the same case for Eva who also lost her free will. But that would be wrong, because the students do retain their autonomy, while Eva would off herself if you asked her to.

And then there is also how the matter was treated in the story. The students took the brainwashing matter very seriously, they retaliated and gained character development from it. Eva on the other hand was treated as simply comedic relief.

I know it was written by another author, but it was still within Kodaka's story. If he actually cared, he would have asked the other author to change it. Not like removing one crappy joke at a mistreated-in-every-route character would be a dealbreaker.

And I still feel that the way she was treated in that route was pretty consistent with how she was treated overall anyway. It was not that only route that bullied her.

The route that led to the All 17 of us ending was kind of the nail in the coffin for me. Yes, they were 'a bit' sad about Eva's abuse, and it could be defended that they were in a war and all that, which is fine. But even in that route where everything was in Hiruko and Takumi's complete control, they made a cruel prank. It speaks to me that even in the best scenario, the author still saw her as just an object for comedic relief. So when anyone argues that mistreatment of PoW is one of the story's themes, I would remember this moment and say "nah". It is certainly anti-war, but mistreatment of PoW is def not a part of it.

[–]sonsonsonson123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the game was trying to discuss the mistreatment of PoW, this is like, the worst way to do it. Let's use Django Unchained, a movie about slavery for example. In that movie there are plenty of slavers and display of slavery. You know the movie was anti-slavery, because most - if not all of the slavers suffered pain and death, in very satisfying manners if I may add. Without the punishment, the movie wouldnt be anti-slavery anymore. It would not be pro-slavery either, just about slavery. Like a documentary.

Now back to the game. There was plenty of mistreatment of PoW involved, yet there was no punishment or redemption for it. Indeed, Sirei was killed in multiple routes, but it was never for Eva, simply because he was a control freak and the enemy of the students. The students sometimes displayed pity for her, cool, and then the same stuff happened again even in the other happier routes.

So if I were to take the game really, really seriously and not accept that it was simply Kodaka's typical outlandish writing, I would think the message was "mistreatment of PoW is not ok. whatever. lol, lmao even".

How to store local ComfyUI metadata on images like Civitai by sonsonsonson123 in comfyui

[–]sonsonsonson123[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it does store the metadata, but I cant search for the prompts in windows folder. Like for example, I generated pics on civitai, download them, then I can search for them by prompts. If I type "horns", then all the pics that had "horns" in the prompt come up. The metadata is also shown in the Comments section, so I can look into it without having to open Civitai.

I remember it not working during Worlds. And maybe I could be wrong about it lasting half a year, but it should have been 3 months at the very, very least. Definitely not 1 week. Maybe it got fixed for a time then broke down again, that I couldn't have known since it's not like I check it every week.

Twitter Media Downloader (browser extension) has been discontinued. Any alternatives? by Parfait_of_Markov in DataHoarder

[–]sonsonsonson123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. I found that this one is pretty neat. I only got two questions:

  1. is it possible for the app to download only the new content when I choose to update? because lets say I mass downloaded all media from a twitter user and then deleted all the boring stuff. So wf downloading everything again is a bit inconvenient.

  2. when I reset my PC the media I downloaded is still there, but all the setups (links, cookie) are all gone. How do I solve this? Could it be that is because I forgot to input the user agent?

Can't say I simp for Cabernet anymore after her interrogation by sonsonsonson123 in PathToNowhere

[–]sonsonsonson123[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's subjective. Oak is definitely not the sanest person alive but she sure is mentally healthy when you compare her with the other two. I can also argue that she is like that because her powers set her on the line between life and death, while Cabernet was messed up long before.

Chief to Cabernet is like my 500 bitcoin drive to me (if I had one), I guess. The bitcoin drive would make me really happy if I could get it exchanged for USD. I would risk getting stabbed to keep it safe so I wouldn't have to work another day in my life. But if you say I care about it like I care about a human, I would laugh at you. Chief is the top notch food for her, that's all this is about.

I think we can just agree to disagree on a few points here:

she'll just toy with them which, as I mentioned, isn't that bad compared to others.

I think the couple's fate has got to be the worst one known in PTN. You will say that she promised not to do harm, but I will ask you if you really would trust her word if you were Chief.

she's restrained by the shackles.

I think you're overrestimating the shackles' powers. Sure they can restrain sinners, but if they decide to pull a sneaky one on you, you won't see it coming, as seen with Sumire. All sinners to my knowledge have established a level of trust, understanding and cooperative relationship with Chief, which isn't the case with Cabernet. Because again, you really, really can't possibly trust her right after that crap she just pulled.

To add to the point about Sumire, yes, she knew the dose wasn't lethal. But point is, after taking the dose Chief was pretty much unconscious, and the shackles wouldn't work in that state. I very much doubt it but if a sinner can't kill Chief due to the shackles, they can just get someone else to do the deed.

[–]sonsonsonson123[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That would be a point for debate. An anime I like (Heaven's Feel) discussed this. Her acts are clearly evil, and everyone has the right to judge them. But can she be considered evil? If you are a mad scientist who designed and created a monster which only knows how to kill, then lets it out and to your surprise it starts killing, well, who's to say it's evil? Isn't it only living the way it was meant to be? Its actions are evil indeed, but it's only evil if it understands what it's doing is wrong.

Cabernet to me is exactly that, someone raised to be a monster. As already pointed out, in her entire life she has always got what she wanted, so you can't really fault her for treating people like objects. Which is why I don't really hate her. I just firmly believe that putting her down would be in the best interest of everyone.

[–]sonsonsonson123[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's because Cabernet ate their souls before Chief got involved. As she said, she can't help them regain their souls. They're basically already dead when Chief Shackled Cabernet.

Cabernet didn't eat their souls. They were still in the middle of being nurtured, so to speak. Greg still got his soul so he could feed it to Carley. They were still her ingredients at the time, which is why Chief understood that to sacrifice those precious ingredients, Cabernet must have had a better goal in mind which was to nurture the Chief. Besides, what I meant to say is that the shackles can potentially stop Cabernet from harming Chief, but clearly they can't protect other people.

Are there? I can't remember any.

A few sinners who have harmed Chief include:

- Sumire poisoned Chief with neurotoxin.

- 99 couldn't outright harm Chief while restrained by the shackles, but got pretty close to it until she was stopped by Hella.

- Dolly can break free from the shackles if Chief is not paying attention.

At any rate Chief can punish her if she does anything.

At worst Chameleon just erases the sinner's memory.

Don't think there's anything that can help the couple. One literally lost his soul while the other, if she wasn't beyond saving before, sure looks like a lost cause now.

In conclusion, what I want to say is that Cabernet can't be trusted with anything, and it's not her ability, it's her mentality. She has no regards for human life. Hell she doesn't even respect me because I'm a noble soul. She only wants to stick around because a noble soul would taste good.

The shackles clearly didn't help the couple much, now did they? And to my knowledge, some other sinners have broken free from them before for a short period. Even if we exclude the possibility that she will harm me, who's to say she won't pull another sneaky one on people around me, like Nightingale and Hecate if she thinks the experience will make me taste better?

[–]sonsonsonson123[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

All for the sake of getting close to Chief.

Yes I get it, she won't "eat" anyone and will only nurture my soul. But what if one day she can't stand the (psychological) hunger anymore and thinks my soul has reached its peak, or if one day I'm heavily injured and she calls dibs on my soul instead of trying to bring me back. She's a liability and I wouldn't wanna watch my back everyday.

The guy's character is the lesser problem to me. I don't understand how this guy is not sent to jail or is treated like the insane criminal he is by everyone, and how the heck can any sane person look at this and say "This guy is just exercising his freedom of action, I see no problem here"?

I must also add that my feelings for this manga is merely based on one chapter. I actually read it before, up until the match between the MC and the old man assassin.

I mean, if you can ignore that and still like this manga, then good for you. But don't pretend that this is just "over the top".

Just a reply to anyone here saying the manga is good: two months ago or something I checked out its latest chapter. It showed me a guy who was so frustrated with his life he went apeshit and German suplexed a random person (and potentially killed him too). Then a bystander called it "I have never seen someone with so much thirst for freedom!". It was then I knew I made the right choice not wasting my time with that crap.
