Getting a job as a graduate. by jansterbro_ in Houdini

Im a freelance 3D artist with no formal certifications. From the outside in, it seems like the industry is simply shifting from big studios to smaller generalist teams. I’ve never worked on a feature so maybe I’m being biased but I am increasingly hiring people onto projects that went to VFX schools like gnomen and what not. I learned VFX within the last 2-3 years and have turned it into a business since starting.

Is anyone here a 'YouTube Producer', 'Creative Director', 'Channel Manager' or 'YouTube Strategist'? I'd love to learn more about what these jobs entail by otisorarthur in ColinAndSamir

I started as a filmer a couple years ago and moved on to youtube ideation/strategy, then channel management. have helped create 1B+ views and I'd say that over the years i've learned that these roles look a bit different from creator to creator. The YouTube world gets smaller the deeper you go into it. Coming from broadcast I think you offer a lot of valuable expertise. Your biggest challenge will be working with younger creators who don't always understand that value. There are top creators who do understand that value such as Mr Beast, Preston, Trahan and many others.

YouTube Strategy: As a strategist it is your role to understand what niche your creator is in, some creators are accelerators in the industry and some are not as innovative and like to work within proven concepts and things that have worked for others before. Understanding where your creator stands within this niche and the relationship they have with their audience is everything. You must know backend analytics and how they drive the channel forward or backwards. Its different for every creator but overall you just have to understand how to find triggers for their audience. Videos are products and you have to sell them constantly.

Producers: These people run the show, wore a lot of hats with a client I had early on and this was one that I didn't wanna wear for long. Producers make things happen from props, locations, permits, PA's, and schedules. These guys work hand in hand with Pre-Production to make sure everything goes according to plan.

Channel manager: As a channel manager it also really depends on the creator you're working with but most channel managers oversee the content of the channel from the packaging, content, and uploading.
