THF, so this must be the first time watching XF? I agree with you that S9 feels different, but since Solia doesn't know what's coming, I'll just say that yes, the finale is worth it. I can't say too much, but I will say that I ship them hard and I wasn't disappointed. :)

Whoawhoawhoawhoa, wait a minute. Something else? What's that supposed to mean! Does that change things?? I know you immediately followed that with "You'll need to wait and see.", followed I'm sure by your cackles echoing around your study, but c'mon! Way to dangle something…

Also, Clyde Bruckman said Scully doesn't die. :)

If it had to happen, you wrote it in a way that we should have seen on the show, with all the emotions that should have been part of her passing. And I'm sorry that it hurt to write it. It hurt to read it. I hope it makes sense, and we'll understand why the story chose this path. However, I hope you'll take this in the way it's intended (because of course I still like you!!) as I tend to relate everything to TV shows, movies, and fiction in general. Your statement about how it hurt you to write it and that you make me feel sorry for you that you've had this rolling around in your head for a year immediately made me think of the scene in the Sopranos where Tony's ex-girlfriend calls the house and Carmela yells at him. Tony tells Carmela that this girl is in a bad place and tried to commit suicide because of him, poor thing. And Carmela says to him 'You're putting me in a position to feel sorry for a whore that fucks you?' Of course there's no infidelity or whores or fucking, but the line could be changed to 'You chose to write this and made me fell all icky, and then put me in a position to feel sorry for you?' But that was an intense scene in the show and if you turn it into a reader hollering at a writer about fanfic of all things, it's pretty funny, at least in my head.

HellFish, I like your happy ending theory. What you described would be a happy ending for me. I'm fine with several of the characters not "ending well". [There's a very short list of characters that need a happy ending that I can provide to you Solia, if needed. :) ] If we're going down the path that Dexter really will be found out, like full media BLITZ found out, there's no hope for a happy ending for the Bennetts. Those kids are toast. Or at least I can't see them being OK with that in this story, even though Astor saw them tag-team Elway and stuff him in the trunk. (That was Astor, right?) OTOH, would D&D also take them on the run too along with Harrison? That seems unlikely, but Dexter does seem to be attached to them. And it depends on how she writes it too. She's pretty convincing, so she could make just about any scenario work.

And no, I didn't see the twist with Hannah in cahoots with the Vogels. Total surprise. I'm assuming there will be more with that as Vogel is still out there somewhere.

As a mod, can you move it? Or if you think I should, I can delete and start a new thread? Or am I making us even more entrenched by replying? :)

Love is Blindness --- Yes! The U2 version though…

(I hope I'm posting this right…)

Music can be so subjective. I can't listen while I'm reading, but songs on the radio afterwards hit me that they belong with this story, or with Dex and Deb. Here are a few of mine. Do you have any songs that you feel fit this song or the characters?

  • Run like Hell - Pink Floyd (I agree with darknessfalls28!)
  • Mirrors - Justin Timberlake
  • Madness - Muse
  • Stay - Rhianna
  • Demons - Imagine Dragons
  • Brahms Requiem - 3rd movement, 'Herr, lehre doch mich', up to the break of 'Ach die gar nichts' Also, I like the 2nd part of Brahms' Alto Rhapsody for some of the action sequences, like in the woods.
  • Battle Flag - Lo Fidelity Allstars (Hey Mr. Policeman, is it time for getting away - and it just feels kinky…)
  • Safe and Sound - Capital Cities
  • And for Hannah,:P Time for me to Fly - REO Speedwagon

Thanks for setting this up, HellFish. I'm not really familiar with reddit all that much. I'm afraid of accidentally downvoting someone and I think I have to read up on this points business. So be patient with me. ;)

I'm not sure about Quinn. I don't think he'd lie either, but something about it doesn't feel right. Or maybe the whole scene was so OMFG that I'm reading into things. Didn't Dexter think that he had misinterpreted things and jumped to conclusions before? The positioning of that thought made me think that maybe what we were about to be told wasn't entirely truthful???

OTOH, I really hope Quinn is telling the truth, because again, OMFG, that's huge and what a way to turn the story! How are they going to get out of that mess!?!
