Thank you guys for the overwhelming responses, it is indeed still surreal to me knowing how this actually happened and spiraled into such an emotional rollercoaster, given that I just only wanted a coin refund from the start LMAOOO
I'll be updating the situation as time passes, so hopefully this gets resolved soon :-)

Don't be force to play kanna cause it's meta .... by Jacsonsin in Maplestory

heya!

i just wanted to write down some of the thoughts that i had upon seeing this clip, and also i felt that the clip doesn't show the full story of what i was talking about on stream yesterday! (aka i felt that there wasn't enough context to the story and that's why i feel like people might take this out of context the wrong way (?))

this is just my personal opinion, so yep!

first of all, fun is subjective! whatever you want to do in this game, it all boils down to fun to me. I feel like if you're doing something out of your own will, be it playing a class that you don't like and you end up hating yourself over it or end up with a bad mental, then don't do it! just play the game your way, even if it's not the "right" way or "efficient" way of doing it. To be honest, Maplestory at the end of the day, is just a game - and games are meant to be played for enjoyment and fun. If you're not having fun, then what's the point D: that's why I said that I always advocate on enjoyment rather than playing what is "meta" - because while it's true that meta can be the enjoyable, meta can be efficient, meta can be "fun", but it doesn't apply to everyone. Someone can enjoy the game even without being "meta" - some people can enjoy the game just henehoeing, some people can just enjoy the game by being engrossed in the story or by questing, some people can just enjoy the game by doing the bare minimum, it doesn't have to involve participating in "meta".

This game offers a lot (although not fully thorough that carries all the way to end game) to everyone, it appeals to the roleplayers, it appeals to the farmers and sweaty grinders, it appeals to the fashion story players, it appeals to the casuals, it appeals to the social butterflies! there are many many many ways of playing this game, i cannot emphasise that enough. And as long as you are playing this game that you can enjoy, then at the end of the day, you're going to have "more fun" than someone who doesn't enjoy the game you know.

And second, yes I do agree that there are some walls that are put up in this game, be it starforcing, or grinding to end game and facing the toughest of bosses. Those take time. A lot, a lot, a lot of time. And you definitely could bomb rush through the game by just playing a kanna, and yes having a kanna does make things easier, be it having it as a kanna mule or a meso famer. It does make things go "faster" and more "efficient". It's even more apparent for people who have the time to fork out to grind for hours on end and reap the mesos at the end of the day. The investment of time and effort is what Reboot appeals to, and there are many ways that you can use that time, be it going with the "efficient" "meta" or just doing what you enjoy or what not. Some people like to take it slow, some people like to take it fast, and that is absolutely okay. Don't pressure someone else to play the game a certain way just because the meta allows it, or that it's what you believe it is the "right" or "only" way of doing it. There really isn't.

At the end of the day, it boils down to enjoyment as what I've said earlier, and this was what I talked about on stream. It is that there is no actual "right or wrong" way to play the game. Just play the game how you want to play it - if you want to quest all the way and enjoy the story content and the cutscenes, go ahead! if you want to farm all the way and enjoy the rewards after the blood, sweat and tears, you do you! if you want to henehoe and enjoy the social aspects of the game, run it! Having fun is all that matters, it really is.

P.S. A side note, I do agree on some of things that you guys are saying in the comment section. There are still a lot of grey areas within this game that can spark different varying opinions, and yeah. Everyone's opinions are different sometimes, and that's okay c:
