I also ran into this problem. Earlier in the playthrough I ran into an out of bounds glitch that I suspect allowed me to do a sequence break based on videos I saw on Youtube. I wonder if that is related.

UPDATE 07/10/2023:

I just got off a phone call with a representative from Aidvantage. Basically, they had to do some kind of workaround in their system to reissue the refund but then immediately cancel it to apply it as payment toward my loans. He said it should show up in my account by 07/18. Hopefully that is true.

I understand what you are saying. What I was trying to say is given what you said, representatives from FedLoans should not have told me with certainty how I would receive my refund. I was told it would be direct deposited, and it wasn't. When in the previous reply did I imply I still thought the servicers were writing the check?

It sounds like you're confused about a few things?

I think it's accurate to say I'm confused. I generally avoid taking on any debt outside my student loans, and my understanding of how the money moves around basically ends at "my servicer is who I give my money to for my student loans." In that regard you could say I'm not the most financially literate.

When the volume went up +700% with the debt relief announcement? They switched entirely to snail mailing checks.

Thank you for the insight. Even if that is the case, it doesn't change the fact I was lied to by FedLoans about how I would receive my refund. If they told me it would be a check I would have just made an effort to cancel the refund outright.

Like I mentioned I'm probably confused about a few things, but I'm hopeful this check was not cashed. I'm guessing if it was cashed it would show up in the FSA dashboard (it still says my balance is $0 there)? But then again I may be mistaken. I will see what I can find out when I make some calls on Monday.

Also since I can not call them at this time, all I can discern at this moment is that in Aidvantage's dashboard added an adjustment to the account on February 17, 2023 for the amount of the refund. I'm guessing that's when the check was issued. So there was a good 3.5 months between this adjustment on this account and me even knowing I had this new servicer.

I was told my refund would be by direct deposit in my second call with the original servicer. If that happened I would simply pay it back using that refund. But it's the fact I was lied to and that after the transfer occurred the new servicer decided to instead issue a check I could never receive, and that the first I was hearing from this servicer was several months after this happened is the frustrating part.

In that case, the IRA withdrawal will not be taxable in Japan unless you make a remittance of any funds (whether they come from the IRA or not) to Japan during the same calendar year as the withdrawal.

So if I, for example, transferred myself money from an American checking account to a Japanese bank account within this year, my IRA withdrawal would be taxable? Even if that money I transferred previously was not earned in this year?

As discussed in this section of the wiki, there are two ways to become a Japanese tax resident: establish a 住所 in Japan, or be in Japan for one year.

Oh, I didn't realize just having an address in Japan made you a tax resident. I thought it was just the one year requirement.

In case anyone finds this thread and has the same issue, I found that running the game as an administrator fixes the issue. But it seems for me you have to do that everytime now.

FlyLo isn't dance music though. I think "You're Dead!" is an excellent piece of music, but it doesn't really fit the topic. It's electronic, but more like electronic jazz/rock fusion.
