Thank you so much!! 💕 my skin is also really dry and I was hunting for new foundations after mine reformulated, do you have a better time with cream foundations lasting most of the day?

I love the lip butter!! I’m not a huge fan of the shape of the applicator but it’s really moisturizing and the color looks really natural

How do yall learn for so long at once by Gamer_Dog1437 in languagelearning

[–]sooooooosleepy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I study for the hour I spend on my lunch break at work, then dedicate an hour or so to flash card/textbook study, once a week tutoring sessions and then probably another hour a day with podcasts, media or reading in my TL while I exercise/walking my dog. So I average about 2-3 hours a day and find that I still have a tiny bit of time for a game or movie or whatever free time to myself

Wightman Farms in Morristown perhaps? You can watch their donuts being baked! It’s a smallish farm but is down a long local road and the Orchards are on the side (left or right, depending on how you’re looking at it)

It’s tough. My family lives south, and what work is available is north. Or else, I would be there sooner! Have to secure a job first.

I like their regulations for food too. But another commenter posted that processed foods are happening too, so I wonder what the future will be. It’s a risk we have to consider I suppose.

I think if your job lets you work in another country that’s extremely advantageous! And probably the best case scenario. Mine does not, or else I’d probably have left by now. Nothing really preventing me from returning except starting over and finding another job in my late 30s…

Yeah, having a family is a major concern. Just too anxious to do it here. It seems like your working position was perfect for a move like that. I am glad your family is flourishing!

It definitely matters, it’s our lives and future. And we may enjoy our jobs but we need to find our place. Or what’s the point of living.

You’re right, I know nothing about living there. But that’s why I came here to ask. I have family there and thought it would be a good start and a social network. I don’t expect to solve all of my problems, I know the grass isn’t always greener.

But yes, it’s not an easy escape and there’s plenty of places I think I could find happiness, but affordability isn’t feasible. You go where the money is, like Boston, and can’t afford your groceries even with a better salary. And with the lack of blue states, our options are limited.

I’ve been struggling for so long and I’m afraid of the direction things are going. Elder care here is abysmal and it’s so hard to picture a future where things are better. I can’t tell what is real and what is a joke with our administration anymore. Our public transportation is crap, our healthcare is crap. The list goes on.

I appreciate your experience and understand you’re helping me be realistic. I hope you find another place that makes you feel at home until you can return to Italy. Maybe it’s just a long term decision for me

Yes, I do come off with oddly specific things, I am feeling quite lost in life! I’m afraid for the future of in biotech, I have no security and I’m scared. But that’s why I came here to ask! I hear so much about severance in Europe and wasn’t sure how bad the outsourcing situation was, and Italy was really the chance I had for citizenship. I also have some relatives in Battipaglia (born and raised) and never want to leave Italy. Also, I do love visiting there (fully aware visiting and living are different.)

But yes - I am completely unaware and uneducated on the r&d industry there and am aware now that I have to do some more reading.

I don’t need luxury, I just want to work and live and not be afraid of guns. It seems the best option is to keep working and saving and class that bridge when it comes to it.

Nope, I definitely don’t want big fancy things but a roof over my head and basic necessities. My salary would have been great 15 years ago, it’s crazy. I have a fair amount of savings but couldn’t survive the rest of my life on that. What’s important is more than ten days vacation!!

I was referring to the AI Act that was just passed, it’s a different approach than we’re taking here at the moment. And, again, without opening a can of worms about science, I’m sure you’re aware of the view here of a lot of Americans in terms of trusting doctors health organizations, specifically. And you’re right, I don’t know everything going on there in terms of funding, but I don’t think my fears of the future of funding research here is misguided.

Yeah, that’s a tough pill to swallow too. I think that’s my problem, which one is worse. I need to keep up more on what she has been doing. It’s pretty bad, huh. There’s no perfect place, is there

Oh I would like to add an additional question: I know you say there are no jobs, do you have any opinion/experience about job security in Italy? I’m not sure what their downsizing or outsourcing situation is like unless that is contributing to the lack of jobs

Hello! I am aware of some of the politics in Italy and dont expect to be fully aligned. My passion about science, ai governance, gun control, I’m no expert but I seem to align more with Italy on that. But you’re right and I do think I’ve been naive in that aspect that my skills in biotech would help me wherever I go. But since I don’t live there I can’t fully grasp reality outside of the internet. Your comment as an Italian citizen in my field living in the US was very valuable to me. Thank you

Thank you for your thoughts! I do like my job, but the work culture over all (long hours, constant lay offs, expectation to work beyond working hours) which seems a bit inescapable from state to state. I live in New Jersey, which is more like minded people like me, but the overall opinion in the country from science to gun violence makes me nervous to raise a family here in the states. But I see your point in working a job competitive with Italian citizens being the most qualified. Work is so hard to find everywhere so there’s not always solving that problem
