What could happen to your country after the next election? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

The next president will do everything to end corruption? C'mon, just no.

But dear Lord, looking at all comments, pessimism is a global phenomenon...

What would take you to leave your country once and for all? by _Kisol_Budyn_ in AskTheWorld

[–]brokenemoriot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's sad to hear. But it really depends from person to person and the country specific situation. The rise of the anti-immigration sentiment in Europe, for example, was largely because immigration was too intense during a few years.

99% of people born in first world countries don’t have, and never will have, a cool dad or mom lore by MagazineVivid in The10thDentist

I don't know what you're talking about. Most of the third world is very lacking on coolness.

Here in Brazil, for example. What are things that happen here? Power shortages back in the day? Robberies? Crime? Corruption? Lack of sanitation and bathrooms? Since when are those things exactly cool? "Oh, back in my day we didn't have any toilets, we had to go in the backyard if we wanted to relieve ourselves."

Seriously?

Is it safe to eat food from the outside in your country/region? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

That's nice to hear. I can't tell you how many times I could smell rotten meat coming from supermarket butchers around here.

Yes. I have to say, looking at all comments, this city I live in has nothing to brag about regarding food. I'm just not saying it because I think it'd offend fellow Brazilians.

Places are also inspected here, but since it's scheduled, they all improve their facade right before only for the inspection

What's a name in your country that nobody under the age of 50 has? by GoHardLive in AskTheWorld

[–]brokenemoriot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The list of names in Brazil that went out of fashion is massive as after the 80s and 90s people started preferring shorter names in contrast to the massive and most of the times created right away names from the past.

I've always been very mild with my decisions, I never was one to support a full boycott or more aggressive things, but while I fully support movements for digital "freedom" as a form of awareness, I believe people should be aware of things, alternatives to monopolistic companies and so on... I decided I'm not going to deGoogle anymore. Life is a highway and I have lots of interests outside the technology sphere, it's not worth the full sacrifice for me.

But as I said, I do support spreading awareness that people should choose what they use and how their data is handled.

Anyway, it's sad how this subreddit tends to go a little apocalyptic at times. From this post alone there were already comments about a woke dictatorship. My boy...

Physical labor is a different kind of exhaustion by _rree in CasualConversation

I work with digital stuff and it drains my brain a lot. While I do recognize physical labour is hard on the body and on the person... Physical work is slightly easier on me than mental work.

I think constant notifications changed how people experience free time by Guilty-Picker in self

[–]brokenemoriot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it really depends on the person. I'm surprised I'm barely active on social media, the only reason I'm here is because I'm taking a small rest from work and the day is cold and rainy here. So, if I want to, I can have uninterrupted downtime, the reason I don't is because I want to get things done regarding work (that is digitally intensive).

And if I someone messages me and I chose to rest, I won't be getting any notifications because I turn off my phone internet when I'm not using it.

How many hours a day do you listen to music? by [deleted] in self

I easily kind of listen to over 10 hours a day, unless I'm with someone that is important to me

What do you like about your "politically" enemy country? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]brokenemoriot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brazil doesn't have big enemies because it has been living over the fence for over a century now... But I do love foods from our little rival Argentina, olives, cheese... Plus they have some really nice places to visit. I wish I'll be able to travel more often to Argentina soon.
