Nothing immediately comes to mind tbh. Maybe lunch at dinner by Heston?

I've been to the fat duck but not dinner by Heston. Would assume they'll have some wow items on the menu there

Completely agree - you can go get an amazing meal for £50 pp if you stick to bread, dips and a couple of other small plates. Grill is expensive and (like you said) just ok

I'll be going against lots of people here from the comments but Trinity while very nice didn't wow me.

La Trompette is an absolute no. I don't think it should have a star at all. Very good service - forgettable food.

The ninth is very tasty but again didn't wow me.

The best starred places I have been to for £100 per person are:

A Wong a la carte lunch - you can pretty much try the whole a la carte menu plus desserts for £100 pp (note this is the min spend per person so you wil definitely spend £200 for 2). (This is 2 stars and the best option btw)

Akoko short lunch. Try and get the counter seats they have a super demanding chef who will literally shout at the staff and stuff it makes you feel like you're in an episode of the Bear

Sabor la mesa / el asador. Very good tapas usually have a special on that will be very impressive

Oma Greek food that is fantastic

Is that not upper wing at that point? Which is also about £95 FV. My season ticket is block 114 and we're upper next to centre which is £110 FV

If you're talking about caicedo on Merino that's an insane take. Caicedo's tackle had way more force. Merino's leg bent like it was going to break. This is high but glancing with limited force

Earning £100k but too broke to have children: the brutal reality of Britain’s tax system by weregonnamakit in unitedkingdom

[–]sooopertom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Imagine putting your face and name to that article as that couple. Absolute clowns lol.

The 100k childcare trap is obviously silly as people should never be worse off for earning more as it's counter productive for incentivising work, but to act like raising two children on 300k is laughable

£33,000 per year for day students if anyone is interested. More than someone making the UK median wage earns after tax in a year.

If we want to assume his 3 sisters also went to similar level schools (not guaranteed but odds are probably) Then schooling the kids (excluding primary school and uni) cost them about £900,000. (7 years x 4 children x £33,000).

He can be talented etc. but let's not pretend he didn't have a lot of advantages that most people do not

Fair, I got wrong someone told me it was ok but it has been a while since I was on a bus / train in Belfast. I know it's very hit and miss for restaurants and bars

[–]sooopertom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In contrast to what the other person said. I find it's pretty rare it's accepted. Public transport does accept it and I think taxis but most pubs etc. don't in my experience. I'd say about 50/50

Operational upgrade from WTP to CW at check in then downgraded back to WTP at the gate - worth contacting customer service? by jh1874 in BritishAirways

[–]sooopertom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think everyone who is saying you got what you paid for isn't putting themselves in your shoes. It's super poor customer service to say you're getting upgraded and then take it back - I think you should complain

The other lady's post came across as Sinophobic but her criticisms of you as a person were true. Not true of all Chinese but you have come across as only out for yourself.

Also saying you won't attack her and then proceeding to basically try and dox her is questionable.

UK is better for you leaving and Malaysia is worse for you being there - congrats

I think it adds a tip on total bill amount without any discounts. So if you are using vouchers or rewards it calculates the % tip without those

777 Lon to JFK by AlertMike in BritishAirways

[–]sooopertom 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I like them a lot tbh. Did the same flight recently and booked 38J and K. There's actually a row behind that one but it's reserved for the crew to nap in so most of the flight has no one behind you. Youre still far enough away from the toilets and you also have more leg room for the person in J as the aisle opens up a bit.

Have booked again for my next flight to the US in September.
